Oh you think you know fashion well fashions a stranger
You think fashions your friend, my friend
Fashion is danger
Eyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I like it very much.. Dark soul is really a nice game. I like it very much.
Very appropriate sig link for a game like this. Especially given the Link the Bonfires ending.
Got a new new new new new new favourite outfit. Wanderer's... Cloak(?) is very cool. Rocking it with Thief's Mask and Shadow Leggings.
Fashion~<3 Tip: Wanderer's coat goes with absolutely everything in the game and anyone who tells you otherwise is wrong.
Eyyyyyyyyyyyyy
It's very much the type of design I like most. I'm gonna couple it with some chain and plate, like Silver Knight Leggings or something. Make it look practical and rugged. Ich liebe es.
I'll also be playing around with some other weapons once I get properly started again. I haven't had much time to play properly yet, but I hope to try out some halberd type weapons, and maybe a nifty scythe! Warpick is apparently very fun to use too.
smurfing stray demon. The fall takes away half of my HP and then the stupid explosion always kills me
This twenty-year-old boy was distinguished from childhood by strange qualities, a dreamer and an eccentric. A girl fell in love with him, and he went and sold her to a brothel...
Guys
Guys
This is important
It's important that you watch this
Haha yeah I saw that yesterday! Amazing! I don't support modding much but this guy can get away with it. So much fun!
Mash the roll button when you drop, if timed correctly you will roll instead of getting the drop-stun animation and gives to time to heal. As for the explosion; in the Asylum an old comrade drops something with a very high magic resistance stat. Helps really well against big pink demon explosions!
Using the crest shield helps a lot. I was about 3 strikes away from killing him until my mom called me which caused me to drop my guard

So let's say, hypothetically, that I was planning to play this game for the first time very soon. Hypothetically.
What advice would you have for a scrubby newb? Hypothetically, of course.
Dont think of dying as a bad thing
Look at everything as a puzzle to be solved.
Be careful before attacking everything, it may be an NPC who you may end up killing.
Be careful before trusting every npc
Take breaks if you get frustrated.
Go through the game first without guides, than use a walkthrough and look up lore analysis on later walkthroughs
Experiment with PvP
Eyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Pike:
- Gear is what makes and breaks your character; Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade!
- Get a feel for multiple weapons and their movesets, can't be a one-trick pony out there.
- Use your consumables, you can always get more of them somewhere.
- Resistance is a waste of stat points.
- Don't use a walkthrough or guide.
- Crystal weapons are highly situational. Raw weapons are dumb.
- If you can't kill it, try and get away from it.
kotora:
Are you using the Halberd on this guy? I'd suggest a swap to Flamberge/Uchigatana/Iaito if you can use any of those. If you just get one bleed in per attack phase and roll away until he lands again, you can beat him without getting hit.
I would hypothetically congratulate you on embarking on one of the most exhilarating, deep and immersive experiences in gaming! As for tips (some of them will second Trollhunters' and Jowy's tips that are spot on btw), let's say:
Do not attack anything that talks.
Don't worry about lost souls and don't worry about saving souls for later. If you can; spend them. Souls are the currency used to level up and upgrade gear.
Do NOT play with a guide.
Be inventive when you get stuck; check your weapons, items, environment and experiment with them. Don't be afraid to use items. (The reason I say this is because a lot of people - including me - tend to save up seemingly good items in RPG's and end up never using them. Dark Souls turns this habit upside down. USE THINGS.)
Explore. A lot. Don't be afraid to do suicide runs to dash and explore some areas if you have no souls or humanity to lose. You might stumble upon a cool weapon or nifty armor, plus you get an impression of what to expect in that environment.
A tip for after the first few areas; consider weapon upgrades to be equal or even more important than leveling up.
Oh and didIwe mention 'do NOT play with a guide'? Can't stress this enough, being blown away is what this game is all about and you will be blown away
Edit: one last tip, don't worry about what class to pick at the beginning. Go with what looks like fun or feels right.
