Also, something no one else has mentioned yet Pike, when entering a new area tread lightly and keep your shield up. You NEVER know what is two seconds away from attacking you and having your shield ready is better than being taken completely by surprise.
And don't forget to download the mouse camera and resolution fixes![]()

The shield thing isnt even really a tip, it becomes second nature after paranoia sets in. Solid tip all the same though ^^
But oh right, pike would be playing on the PC wouldnt she? Hmmmm... That should be interesting, but yea. Get all the dark souls fixes as the port was pretty eh apparently.
Perhaps use a controller if you have one?
Also, one final tip from me until i think of more.
Have fun and prepare to die! HAH, see what i did there? Hilarious right? God im a comedic genius.
Eyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I've already been warned several times to use a controller so don't worry about that; I've got it covered.
Seriously I really don't get all the complaints about how hard it's supposed to be with mouse and keyboard - it works fine for me aside from the weird menu controls![]()

I havent played on the pc so i wouldnt know. Im just going off of tips that i've heard over the months. -shrug-
Eyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Good on you, Pike. Very excellent choice.
Experiment with weapons; every weapon has about a dozen different attack options, and you will fall in love with one at some point, but only if you experiment!
Suicide runs are a great way to explore. If you've just spent all your Souls and Humanity levelling up and Kindling, then you may as well just leg it forward past all the enemies and get an idea of your surroundings. Dying is good.
*cough Master Key cough*
The game is better played without a guide, but don't feel too bad if you get stuck. I definitely suggest watching Lore videos on YouTube after you've completed the game, though.![]()
The master key is fine if you dont use it to skip a certain part of a certain level by going a certain different way. Kills the beginning of the game to me
But yeah, guides if you get really stuck or just ask us for cryptic answers and tips.
Eyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Everyone is talking about stuff I don't understand yet! Guess I will when I start playing :o
Okay guys I'm going to start playing this and- GAMES FOR WINDOWS LIVE? WHAT?? NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THIS!
Edit: I can't even log in to it. And the screen resolution is super wonky and goes off my tiny little monitor xD
Edit Edit: Guys I can't, this is the most unintuitive UI and control scheme in any game ever. xD I've been playing for an hour already and I still don't know what button does what. I'm doggedly trying to continue for you guys, but good grief.

You don't need to use GFWLWhat problems are you having with the controls? It's pretty straightforward:
Attack buttons - mouse 1 and 2
Lock - mouse 3
Block - shift
Parry - tab
Switch weapons/shields - c/v
Switch to one/two handed - alt
Menu navigation is with page up and page down. You'll get used to it![]()

I'm using a controller.
I keep hitting walls. Like, "OH MAN I AM RIGHT IN THIS GUY'S FACE, I AM TWO INCHES AWAY FROM HIS NOSE" and I swing and my character turns 90 degrees and hits a wall.
I'm at the point where I'm calling this Hitting Walls: The Game.
