Episode 5: The Journey Forward
While Hux may have passed, Shorty and Quin got pretty banged up that last battle too. So we need to stop and rest to recover our spells.
*Dragon Quest sleep jingle* Well, I sure hope nothing bad happens.
Oh trout.
Jiro manages to kill both of them pretty quickly. Jiro, man, he's insane. Here's a tip: Elf bow-users with high Dexterity are killer in this game. Kivan and Coran are excellent NPC's if you're going solo to fit this role.
Shorty heals us up with her spells and we approach Nashkel, the city with the iron shortage.
This guy is a douchebag. Just wanted to point that out.
And we arrive late for Nashkel. We decide to hit up the inn for a night's sleep because the party was beginning to get a bit sleepy.
Who is this fine lady to greet us? Oh, is she approaching Pike?
Apparently even the ladies aren't immune to Pike's charms, so she approaches her give this warning. Uh oh.
This chick seems to be a cleric, because she casts debuffs and stauses on the party, making her the hardest assassin yet.
Quin scores a good hit on her, but she then manages to Hold Person on Quin and Pike, making them (even more) useless.
The key is to spread out the party so her spells' Area of Effect can't spead past them. Jiro and I shoot her while Tifa's Boobs and Shorty (still with no weapon) engaged her in melee.
And down she goes. Tifa's Boobs manages to fell her before she got that last spell cast, which was awesome because a few more moments and something bad would've happen. She's a keeper.
I then take the entire party back to The Friendly Arm Inn to turn in the quest for clearing out the spiders. It was a long trip.
Oh my god. This bitch is blocking the way. There is literally no way up. OH MY GOD.
Shut up, I need to go upstairs!
So after like, two minutes, the old wench moves and we head back upstairs and turn in the quest. From there, we have three options.
A) Go back to Nashkel and clear out the mines.
B) Head to the Carnival for a few minutes of fun.
C) Go out and explore the wilderness to level.
It's up to you what we do next. Vote!
Oh! I was so close to being useful, I could almost taste it.
I place my vote... por Carnivale!
A few minutes of fun? What could go wrong!
I love that Huxley, the only person to ever steal MVP from me, was the one that died. I am literally unbeatable now.
Carnival is it.
The carnival is a bit lacklustre. Although I do like Oopah, so yay!![]()
I chose Carnival because I'm fairly certain I will die if I ever go outside again.
Although, now that I think about it, I have a feeling Laddy may have set a trap in suggesting that the Carnival was not a dangerous place...![]()
Episode 6: La Carnivale
Time to depart for the Carnival! What could possibly go wrong?
Oh yay! I'm so excited.
Oh well, that not too bad.
Well, that's not too bad, they only fell the three most useful characters in the party in two rounds. Not too big of a deal.
And Pike. Well, who needs a mage?
Or a thief? And now all I got is Quin? Is this some sort of cosmic vendetta being played against me?
Well, that didn't go well.
After a quick reload, we managed to reach the Carnival and kill a few Kobolds. Yay, carnival time!
After some shopping(!), we entered a tent and found this going on. Dearest me!
Pike knows what it's like to be a mage, so she pipes and starts a fight because she has no idea what she's getting into.
smurf. He casts Mirror Image immediately, so we'll have to take him down as fast as we possibly can.
He proceeds to cast Panic, affecting everyone but Jiro. Is he awesome or what!? He also manages to pull off a few shots and hit him. Seriously, you can solo him.
We manage to penetrate (heh) through his copies, and now it's just a matter of time. Hope he doesn't pull off anymore spells anytime soon.
Hell yes and he goes down! Despite the lack of damage dealt, we were constantly teetering on the edge of disaster. If he managed to pull off too many spells (like, two) someone would die. Thankfully, my Bard Song managed to contribute to the successful hit rate, and Pike's spells managed to cancel some of his. (Another reason why ALL MAGES should have Magic Missile, it can cancel spells.)
Well Quin, at least you're not cheap. :/
And we got this cool little thing! We'll definitely used this during the next boss battle. In addition, we got some new spells for Pike as well as a robe for her. Pike definitely benefited from this battle.
Next Episode: Exploration!
Jiro is the ultimate. trout's going down? I don't panic. Nope. Just fire my arrows like a boss.
I knew we were all going to die going to the Carnival though xD
What the hell, guys? I expected it of me, but all of you?
Also, Jiro may be the first to kill, but I'm the last to die.![]()
New episode within two days.![]()
Hey guys, I'm not done with the episode yet, but I have an announcement to make. In a few days, a remake of Baldur's Gate, with new characters, art, quests, areas, and an improved engine is going to be released for $20. Why am I asking you to do this? Several reasons.
Reason 1. It's a great game that will be improved with a slew of original content. I suggest it for those who missed out when it was originally released over 14 years ago.
Reason 2. If this is successful, the even better Baldur's Gate II and Planescape: Torment will likely get remade.
Reason 3. If this does very well, Baldur's Gate III will become a very real possibility, with Obsidian, BioWare, and the newly-revived Black Isle rumored to be showing interest in developing the sequel. This would fulfill a twelve-year dream for one of my favorite things ever to continue.
So if you're interested, you can pre-purchase the direct download here.
P.S. I know I shouldn't advertise and I'm not affiliated with Beamdog, Black Isle, or any corporation. I just wanna spread the word.If this post is problematic, then taking it down is fine.
Anyway, new episode soon!
