Sweet sincere 7th grader to me today:
"Miss, you actually look skinny today!"
Describe a time where someone meant to compliment you and ended up breaking your soul instead.

My schoolfriend last week said to me:
"You seem really happy today! Too happy infact. Why are you happy Jordan? Why?"
Um.. because I am happy?
I can't think of any for myself but my sister for a while would get comments like "You look good! How far along are you?" She was not pregnant.
Hohohoho! Asking a woman how far along she is...!
I've had so many accidentally offensive homo comments directed towards me, it's not even funny.
"Are you sure you're gay? You seem really normal."
"You look so much more friendly when you smile! You should smile more often! "
I get that it's a compliment and an encouragement and saw it that way, but not without a quick thought of "oh, you're saying I don't normally look friendly"
"Wow, you look fantastic. I didn't recognise you." - Tony Stark, Playa.
I just have to share something I did a few weeks ago. One of our first patients was a blind woman and she came in for her appt. about 30 minutes early so I was frazzled.
I said "Okay ma'am, we just have some other forms for you to look over."
"..."
Signature by rubah. I think.
That's kind of like the time I was at a restaurant when a man in a wheelchair came in and the hostess said "sit wherever you'd like".
I've had a few older people (anywhere from like 30+) ask if the university caters to people like them. They often phrase it in a way that makes themselves sound old or whatever. I don't usually pay enough attention to how they phrase it so I end up saying "Yeah of course!" and they feel like I'm just validated their suggestion that they're old and decrepit. On the plus side, they'll be dead soon so I don't have to feel guilty for long, right?
i keep yawning when people are talking to me.
My boss after me showering for the first time in several days: "NICE HAIR WASH"
She legitmately meant it as a compliment but I felt like she was calling me out for having greasy hair before
