No, I simply assume that someone invading an entire planet would have the foresight to watch it for a week, which is all you would need to do to figure out it rains from time to time.

I don't really care about the Signs argument, because I liked the movie when I saw it years ago, but further evidence they're idiots: We have extremely straightforward technology based on really simple physical properties that allow us to determine the types of weather systems on planets we have never stepped foot on, without even sending remote probes to explore them. It's stuff we've been doing since the '60s with remote sensing and even further back terrestrially. We are still probably decades if not centuries from breakthroughs that will give us any hope at lightspeed travel.

But aliens couldn't determine that we have a lot of water on earth?



(Still, it was a decently suspenseful movie if you don't think too much about it.)
