I have asked a friend to call me during a date so I'd have an excuse to leave. It backfired.
My friend isn't too bright, unfortunately. I was hoping it'd play out like a normal phone conversation that gave me a believable excuse to leave. Instead, he opened by asking if I was "tired of that chick yet". I wasn't prepared for that, but I tried to like, sound out a natural conversation anyway. It went something like "What's up? ... Huh? ... Really? ... Yeah, of course, I'll be there! Hold on-". At this point I told my date that I needed to go, that it was a family emergency (stupid, but the best I could think of at the moment), and asked her if it was okay. She just looked at me with disbelief and let me know that she had heard my friend. Guess my phone volume was higher than I thought D:

Needless to say, I was left with the bill. Kinda deserved it too.
