    Default Words you say in your own dialect/accent

    Inspired by the Whipped Cream thread, where I said that I say it "whoop cream."

    In Missouri we call tissue by the brand-name Kleenex. That right there is stupid, but I have always called it Kleenax or "clean axe." I get made fun of for it anytime anyone hears me say it.

    What things do you say in your own special, stupid way?

    Crawfish = Crawdads.

    I've uh.. started saying a lot of "Mexican" words in with my English..

    Like Chonies = underwear/panties/whatever.

    Chanklas = sandals

    Manzanilla = Chamomile (I actually -forgot- what that word was in English even though I knew exactly what it was).

    I swear I know I'm not Mexican. I swear.

    Tsinelas for sandals. Filipino thing.

    I've lived in Texas for 15-ish years but I still don't say "y'all" and I refuse to. I also don't say "coke" as a general word for "soda," but tbh, my group of friends don't for the most part, either, so I don't know if that's still a thing they do here. XD

    Starting on my left with one, your number comes up, you go.

    I say y'all.. and ain't. and "ain't got none" and stuff like that.

    I say what each thing is in regards to soda. Coke, Pepsi, Sprite - I use the actual brand name, though I still say soda sometimes. My grandmother used to say Pop.

    No, no. I'm not talking about what local dialects you use, but your own special brand of language.

    In New Brunswick, if you do not know somebody's name, their name becomes Buddy.

    I don't know. I don't usually learn that I say weird things until I speak with someone outside of my local dialect.

    Smartass answer: I say all words in my own accent. /smug

    I call remote controls "the buttons". I do not know where this stemmed from or why, but I get an inordinate amount of trout for it.

    Personal dialect? Well then... Some of my friends and I use "shadowcrane" as a verb to mean being sneaky or crafty. It stemmed from this big inside joke where I was basically the office ninja/superhero (named Shadowcrane) who made origami cranes out of post-its all the time and either saved or destroyed people (I guess that makes me a villain, too, depending on who you ask).

    And when we play the board game Pandemic: "Jesus" - the medic role; can be used as a verb. Becomes "Super Jesus" after we cure a disease. "Part-time Jesus" - the quarantine specialist role.

    Additionally, half of what we say, in response to other things, are inside jokes we've accumulated from other friends.
