This is after all a Final Fantasy Forum, so posting in the Final Fantasy section of it is actually a pretty good thing to get a fictional award for. Here are some of the members who post some great stuff down there.

Here's all the kinky time the citizens of Spira got up too in between X and X-2 which explains why Spira is far more liberal in X-2. Hubba hubba!

My guess would be that it's probably a special box set version with like an art book, postcards, soundtrack highlights CD etc. Much like they did with XIII and XIII-2.

What about Junon? It has the same juxtaposition of wealth and poverty, the marginalization of local culture in favor of industrialism, and, most importantly, the Parade: a gilded celebration of the achievements of modernity and progress even as it's being undone by its own mistakes (and behind closed doors, you see that Shinra knows it).

Then VII spends the rest of the game showing how capitalist societies eventually destroy themselves. All of Shinra's mistakes come back to haunt them, from Sephiroth to WEAPON to Avalanche, and the weapons they created are useless to defend themselves. We see their desperate attempts to survive - cannibalizing their last remnants of idealism (the space program) and attempts to prevent panic by executing scapegoats, and even that blows up in their faces.

The self-unraveling of capitalism is the majority of the game, and you have to argue away its existence to claim allegory ends with Midgar.

Maybe a tie between Man With the Machine Gun in VIII and FFVII's main battle theme. Feel My Blade from FFIX's play is something I could listen to all day.

Yeah, I know this part if the discussion is over, but I just wanted to point out that a year passes before we reunite with Terra, so this change is highly believable. And no, such in-you-face writing is not the epitome of subtlety. Vi, VII, IX, XII and many others had many precious subtle moments. The reason I like X the least (I do NOT hate it) out of all the FFs that I have played is its lack of subtlety. Its message is anvilicious as smurf and Tidus embodies this total lack of subtlety the most.

Yes, they did. However, those were NES games placed onto the PS1/GBA/PSP and still were firmly 2D. They were not given the treatment that X/X-2 HD is.

Actually, it pretty much is an analogous situation. 1, 2 and 4 on the PSP had their textures, sprites and backgrounds enhanced, so that they fit the HD resolution. X/X-2 is getting the same, the graphics were 3D from the get-go, only textures and character models are given a higher resolution. A similar remake for the PS1-era games would require them to completely redraw the prerendered backgrounds, making work on such a remake far more costly.

Ignoring the mediocre battle system, FFVI is pretty damn flawless. As close as most great games come anyway.

Yeah, FFXII wasn't exactly lacking in a sense of scale.

I actually think just about every major city and location in FFIX felt absolutely huge. Even places with fewer actual people like Burmecia were quite large as far as RPG areas go.

Sorry, but everyone with a brain who is not completely insane knows that FFIX is objectively better than FFX by virtue of being absolutely nothing like FFX.

Tactic's system is actually more close to FFX's system than XII's because FFTactic's is decidedly turn based in nature, in fact FFX's system is pretty much a tunr based system except you are notified what the turn order is. You can technically modify the turn order as well but the game puts little thought into this which is a shame. Grandia does a better job of creating a system that allows the player to affect turn order as does Nocturne, DDS, and Persona 3 and 4.

You can keep a steady pace in X-2 but it also requires building your party for speed and avoiding the overuse of high powered skills like Trigger Happy and Darkness as well as some Job Classes. The fact some spells and skills are relegated to the garmet grids, forcing you to needlessly shift job classes just to be able to cast Holy or Flare is also a huge time waster is a huge time waster, especially since casting times for these spells are also large. There are reasons why X-2 has one of the more unbalanced Job Systems in the franchise. This is pretty much keeps it in line with FFIV and XII where you're better off never using Meteor or Scathe if you want to get anything done. At least in FFXII flooding the queue with a high level spell can serve a purpose strategically. Its one of the key strategies for taking down Zodiark with fewer headaches.

Honestly, its not really such a big deal in this game. Largely because if you're playing anything beyond Origins version, then you know the game has one of the worst item management systems in the series. Why? because you have very limited space and Key Items can never be removed and their are a ton of them in this game so you ultimately end up having to ditch equipment quickly in this game. There are really no super special awesome items available in the early section of the game to cause this issue if you think about it except maybe the Blood Sword but that weapon will seem useless until the final dungeon, so its more likely you may accidentally toss it than give it away. This game really isn't so bad in this department, especially since three of your four party members stay with you consistently throughout the game. Its not like FFIV where you are playing party roulette all the time.

As you can see, there are many different posting types, from silly and casual, to well thought out and elaborated, and they all make the Final Fantasy forums a better place to be. Good luck to all of the nominees!
