The Movie Club - Week #6: Children of Men (Vivi22's Pick)

Who wants to start a movie club? I know we have a "last movie you watched thread" but maybe we could organize a once-a-week movie to watch and report back on?

Idea: We take turns choosing the film in order of having joined the club. Once we reach the end of the turns list, we start over in turns of members except in case of someone new joining - then they get to cut.

I'm game. I've too many to watch and am terrible at deciding. This'll make the world easier... to an extent.

It's true. I was considering making a thread like this because I am interested in working my way through the IMDB/Rotten Tomatoes top 250. What would the first movie be?

I prefer the AFI 100 Citizen Kane goes first, then Casablanca, then The Godfather, always!

As for the first movie, I want to start out with something awesome. Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of my favorites and I've been meaning to watch it again for a while, so now seems a good a time as any. (and it's on those lists!)

I'd almost have to go with Calliope and do either IMDB's or Rotten Tomatoes because it encompasses a wider range of films. AFI is more exclusively American cinema. One part of this club should be a bit of diversity in the choice and not sectioning off into one genre/category/country/etc. It also doesn't help that the AFI list if from 1998, which leaves 15 years of unaccounted movies. Not exactly the type of list that should be taken into consideration anymore. ;o

EDIT: There is a newer list from 2007 for AFI too. ;p
