I put both seat and lid down when I'm done. Habit.

I have to agree with BoB here. It takes essentially no time or effort, is more sanitary, and makes the room look nicer. Never really understood the idea of leaving either up the whole time.

You talk as if leaving the lid up is some sort of active process that is performed. It's the result of no action, which can easily be explained by laziness. Are you going to ask why people are lazy? Don't ask me, I don't know .
