The Hook / Lover's Lane story always scared me as a kid.

I prefer urban legends when they're about cryptids!

I've always quite liked Bloody Mary and Don't Turn on the Lights. I'll have to check out the others later to make sure I'm not forgetting anything.

I only like urban and local legends when they're being investigated by Mulder and Scully.

There's a local legend about a house near Ohio State University. When you're going down N. High St. heading north, there is a road called Walhalla. It is near a funeral home. There's a legend about a house called Mooney's Mansion, which says that a couple centuries ago, a guy named Dr. Mooney went insane and hacked his family into pieces and scattered their remains across the property. When you drive under the bridge at night, you're supposed to be able to see his wife and daughter hanging from it. Nobody is certain which house in the area it was supposed to be. I think it's the big mansion up on the hill, near Calumet, but others disagree. The reason why I think so is because part of the legend states that at night you might see a body rolling down the hill in front of the house.

I can see how the legend got started, because the area the house is in is REALLY creepy. It looks more like a West Virginia back alley than a populated area of Columbus. Me and my friend have gone there three times, and have had some weird experiences. The second time, my friend's mom was driving, and there was a weird truck about 3 to 4 car lengths behind us. We were coming down a narrow road to get out of the area and back to campus. She tried to let the truck catch up so it could pass, but when we stopped, it stopped (it was still about the same distance back that it started at). This happened about 3 times. We got to the end of the street and turned right, and the truck never followed. It would have had to follow us to get out, because it was a very woody, narrow one-way street. The weirdest part was, when I looked back to see who was driving the truck, I couldn't see anybody. Usually, even from that far away, you could see someone. But I didn't. Neither did my friend.

The area just sends me into a weird depression, too. You know how they say Native Americans can feel spirits around them? They weren't lying. Every time I've gone to Walhalla, I just felt so uneasy and depressed. There's something there, but I don't know what.
Xenogears is the tragic story of how your whole life can take a crappy turn, just because you happened to see a lady in a wedding dress before her wedding.
