I bit the bullet and shaved my head (to a #1 though not a clean shave) and yeah it's a weird feeling at first. But I tell you what, I've had a hell of a lot of compliments on it and it feels great. I'm sure it'll be the same for you.

It's like, the big deal of it is in your own head, I think. Nobody close to me gave any kind of a trout about it or said anything. When I'd make self-depreciating jokes people would just be like "huh? are you bald? oh i guess you're kinda thin". The only people who made any kind of a deal out of it was EoFFers. I think that's a combination of their own insecurities - I've found EoFF people tend to be more insecure than people IRL. Not a diss! Just sayin' - and trying to be cool by dissing me. Which is fine, I like banter and readily serve it back with interest, and if it's someone who just doesn't like you, well, they'd find something else to take shots at you about. Not worth giving a smurf about.
Since I started balding though I've had way more luck with the ladies - all of them younger than me (NOT THAT YOUNGER OH GOD) - than when I had a full head of hair. I don't think that's because balding is an attractive look, but probably because I was a better, more awesome and confident person. Which probably tells you that's what people care about anyway - who you are, not how you look.
It reached a point where I thought, smurf it, I'm wasting time and money on getting it cut, shampoo, combing it every morning. Let's just blast it off. It's time. And I haven't looked back since.
