What did you choose: the sword or the esper?
When Mr Shauna and I were playing this we read up on obtaining the Ultima spell, and decided that we were much too lazy to get Ultima via the Cursed/Paladin shield route. So, we chose the esper, losing out on the option to get the Lightbringer sword. We dealt with it, by exploding everything with Ultima.
What about you guys?
I go Esper because I'm too lazy to bother uncursing the cursed shield. I usually equip it and work on it, but it takes a long time and I have no patience. Not that missing out on the best sword in the game actually matters when everyone's rocking a quick+Ultima combo. And Osmose makes MP basically infinite.
I use to always do the esper but then one playthrough I finally decided to go with the sword and found myself pleasantly surprised. After that, I always grabbed the sword because I usually get the Paladin Shield every playthrough anyway. Though due to the way the GBA version is set-up, I grab the esper again because you can now technically get an infinite number of Ragnaroks now.

Current Mood: And it's been a long December and there's reason to believe. Maybe this year will be better than the last. I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself. To hold on to these moments as they pass...
I choose the esper because the sword option sounds barbaric

Esper is fine with me. I had enough swords.
Esper. There are already at least 8 billion other good swords in FFVI.
I've basically always gotten the sword. I always uncurse the paladin shield anyway and the metamorphosis ability doesn't really give you anything I can't do without. If I ever play the advance version I'll probably get the esper though.
I get the sword in the original version, and the esper in the GBA version.

I usually choose the sword but in the mobile version there is an achievement for obtaining all of the espers so I went the esper route on my phone.
