Simple as that! Personally, I prefer physical attacks.

Bow before the mighty Javoo!
Then my vote goes to physical. I prefer to fight at a range so guns are more my preferred weapon than something where I'd have to get up close and I never could write with magic that well. The closest I come is the manipulation of a specific element; fire, electricity, earth, etc.
I assume we're talking about computer games and not real life? I don't think attacking someone with my Paul Daniels Magic Set would be particularly effective.
In games, I like to beat the crap out of stuff so yeah, physical attacks.
Tank all the way.
In party based RPG's Physical, less button presses in general
In single character RPG's Magic, more variety.
When magic can only be used during combat then Physical, less button presses in general.
When magic can be used outside of combat then Magic, more variety.

Kefka's coming, look intimidating!
Have a nice day!!
I really like Katana, especially like Kadaj's Souba. This Kadaj's SoubaKadaj-Souba.jpg
And it would be better if there are dual wield of Souba.

So physical for me. But I like magic that does massive amount of damage with wide range area. Or maybe close up with somekind of teleport magic like Noctis power. This should explain what I meant Noctis Warpits called warp right? Then physical in the end. So a bit of both.
But this is my opinion
It can vary. Magic can sometimes seem a little too weak and unnecessary.
Magic is awesome. Which is why it's sad that it sucks in a lot of JRPGs.
It really varies on the game. I mean, offensive magic in FFXII is mostly ineffectual compared to physical attacks, particularly in the later stages of the game, so physical attacks there win hands down. But in other games, I like using magic. Magic gives variety, dynamic, strategy. Anyone could hit an enemy over and over. It gets boring after awhile, even if it is many times quite effective.
XIi was all about buff/debuff magic though.
I like magic. That's part of why I like FFX so much, it's balanced out so Lulu is an effective fighter with a large enough MP pool to use magic every turn and she isn't overpowered.
Magic was pretty useful in FFXII for specific situations and there were plenty of opportunities to use it effectively, but it wasn't something you could really use in place of physical attacks.
