Default Where would Final Fantasy cities fit into the real world?

Where do you think you could find Midgar or Balamb Garden or Besaid?

I could see Fisherman's Horizon stretching between the English Channel, Winhill near the Oregon coast, and Timber near Chicago. No idea about Deling City - the United States east coast somewhere, perhaps? No idea where I could see Esthar, either - possibly - in a change from desert to snow - in Sweden.

    Besaid is obviously in Hawaii!

Burmecia is maybe in Scotland since it's always raining.

Midgar's pretty cyberpunk, so possibly Hong Kong?

Condie Petie would also be in Scotland because the dwarves have a vaguely Scottish-esque dialect.

Is there any part of Scotland that's actually that dry and sunny, though?

Lindblum reminds me of Canterbury in Kent. It has the a topsy turvy look to the town and back streets. No tram system unfortunately.

Cornelia would be in Brazil. Think about it for a second.

    Lufein would be in Greece.

    Pravoka would be in Jamaica.

The Al-Bhed Home would be in the middle of Saudi Arabia.

Kilika would be in the Philippines.

    Bevelle in Salt Lake City.

Djose Temple in the U.S. Pacific Northwest or Canadian Pacific Southwest.

It's the pretty much the capital of Spiral and center of the nutjob religion in FFX.

    Sorry but you asked.

    Midgar - Bangkok?
    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.

Mt Gagazet has all the obvious Everest associations.

Winhill makes me think of small english seaside villages, although I'm aware Winhill doesn't have a seaside. It would just work as one, for me.

Same for Edea's Orphanage. I can imagine it being near Dover, or in Cornwall somewhere.

Junon has an almost old New York vibe to it, to me. An anonymous future US city vibe. All dark and dingy and made up of identical blocks housing industrial workers and bars.

I think both Nibelheim and Dollet could both work as some Bavarian village. I don't know any names of Bavarian villages to compare them to, but they both have the same feel.

Midgar I always saw as New York, but Honk Kong is a decent fit.

For some reason, I kind of want to place Narshe in Russia.

The Midgar Slums is pretty much identical to Harpurhey in North Manchester

Also, The Cave of the Gi reminds of my first flat.
