    Why is that?
I'm guessing he means that they wouldn't have enough experience to deal with particularly "girly" things. They wouldn't have the understanding that a woman would have, the empathy of having gone through the same things.

That's how I take his meaning in any case.
Basically this. I mean, I wouldn't know much about make-up, or the menstrual cycle, or other topics. I should just clarify, I wouldn't be against having a girl, not in the slightest. It's just, predicting how things would go, at least in those areas, I wouldn't have much immediate experience - I would naturally pick it up though, of course.

    From experience of being a female for 23 years, I have barely managed to pick up all that woman stuff, good luck "naturally" picking it up. x}

I'd think as a parent Shauna, you would have to pick it up pretty quickly!

Dunno man. My Dad is a great guy, but god damn, he's not the most useful when it comes to dealing with me and my ~woman stuff~. He tries his best, and I appreciate his efforts... but yeah.

That is probably entirely related to my mother being on the scene for all that sort of thing for myself and my sister, so perhaps it would be different in a lady-less partnership/household. Who knows. xD

Basically not having experience of things doesn't have too much of an effect on your ability to be a good parent. x} As long as you have basic knowledge!

If it helps, my mum and dad were both pretty useless at this sort of thing. Mum just threw some menstrual products at me at around the right age and told me to ask if I had any questions. I promptly used the internet instead.

My future is fuelled by the fires of words, wit and companionship.

Got it from neither parent. I had to figure it out from my school's sex ed, friends, and a section I stumbled across at the Barnes & Noble bookstore.

Did you not have any friends, or other female relatives you could talk to?

The internet is a wonderful resource but a trusted relative or friend means alot I'm sure.

I only have two other female relatives, and they are much older and live interstate. My friends were primarily male.

Fair enough! I like to think when I have children, I'd be able to make the experience as un-awkward as can be.

Sorry Formy, I can't imagine the experience being anything but painfully and amazingly awkward for you and even more for your children.

You should make a sex-ed video Forms, so we can all know the awkwardness.

I never wore makeup so I would be useless at teaching girls that too. They would say 'Mommy how do I put on lipstick" and I would say "You don't."

My mother, who wanted very little to do with me during my childhood years, was suddenly interested in teaching me about my period when I first got it and also around 12 when she wanted me to start shaving. Coincidentally, these were the exact things I didn't need/want her to be a mother for. I knew what a period was, and I knew how to put on a pad. You just unwrap it and stick it on your panties, not too complicated. Also, I wasn't ready to start shaving at 12, despite her thinking I should be, and I basically just started on my own a year or so later.

My parents gave me no sex ed and neither did my primary school (I switched schools at one point so I think maybe everyone learnt it the next year in my old school and everyone learnt it a year earlier in my new school)

    I didn't have internet access

What little I knew I learnt from Encarta encyclopedia. I was almost oblivious going into Highschool
    Kefka's coming, look intimidating!
    Have a nice day!!

Sucks for you guys for not having a dad that understands your woman trout. Also I learned to put on makeup myself but there are plenty of makeup tutorials on YouTube now. Saying you wouldn't be a good parent to either sex is a poor excuse nowadays unless you're just a horrible person.
