Though for the record I still disagree with you because 7.
IX is indeed the best FF soundtrack of the PS1 era. This is solid fact.
Too downplayed. Too classical. Too new age. Too easy listening. I can't really recall any track that elicited any kind of emotion. I much preferred 7's techno and rock ensemble. 8 had a few powerful melodies that were hampered by horrible writing. Hard to get invested much in the music for a scene if i can't get invested in a scene period due to terrible characters and plot. But whatevs. 9 felt mediocre and meh to me in all regards unfortunately. I've tried to play it 3 times. I beat it once. And only then because I felt obligated. It felt like a chore. And I've never been able to capture the love that some people feel for the game. But at least I gave it a fair shake

But, seriously, FFIX had some damn good music. Don't know if it was the best. Hard to say. All three soundtracks from the PS1 generation were great. Oh, don't make me choose!

Yes. For me, it is easily the best soundtrack of the PS1 generation.
While it's amazing and there are some great songs, overall I think FFVII ranks no. 1 for me here.

Jinx knows where its at, VII had soooo many memorable pieces. World map theme, Aerith's theme, Cosmo Canyon., Sephiroth's theme... I could go on but seriously whats the point. VII is undoubtedly the best out of the lot, anyone else who says otherwise is just deluding themselves
