I didn't miss it, heck the movie makes a point of highlighting that entire thing when she's been found out to be a woman. Although, there Mulan herself says she did it for her Daddy (which is lovely), but more importantly she also did it so she could feel like less of a complete failure (which is also a fine thing). I just failed to comment on the entire plot thread. xD

Still, the transformation scene brings tears to my eyes EVERY TIME. When she sets down her comb and picks up her father's orders...just...tears. And when she's walking towards her ancestors to the beat of the music...CHILLS.

Man, that music, yo. I think it's my favourite piece of music from the whole damn movie.
And then when her dad is running outside trying to find her in the rain. Many sads. I also love the scene at the end when he takes the gifts from the Emperor and just chucks them away because screw that, he just loves his kid and is happy to see her alive.

Also, I forgot to mention your comment on the art style. It's really great. The only other Disney movie (from what I can tell) that does that is Hercules. Which is part of the reason I like it so much. And those movies came out back-to-back, I think.

Re: romances: It's more just like these days love stories are shat on because it's not forward thinking enough or something.

Yeah Mulan is my favourite 'Princess' movie - although yes, I know she's not a Princess yada yada...

It is a fantastic movie. You know when Mulan can smurf off? When her make-up just smurfing slides off. It's never that easy. I can believe she took down all the baddies and saved China, but I aint believing her sleeve cleaned her face like that.

Also, Shaunas. I watched Bolt today and I found it incredibly hard to hold in my feelings. I'll have to watch it again when Phil isn't sat in the same room so I can let out ALL DA TEARS. The fact that he is a white German Shepard has absolutely nothing to do with it at all... nope.

Aww. x} You can chat to Matt about the many hundreds of tears that were shed, because he cried many tears. In fact, he was getting emotional again when writing up the review. He just really loves dogs, man.

Just thinking about the Scene where they are in the burning building made me tear up during this review. I'm okay now cause I'm a man and stuff.
