I didn't miss it, heck the movie makes a point of highlighting that entire thing when she's been found out to be a woman. Although, there Mulan herself says she did it for her Daddy (which is lovely), but more importantly she also did it so she could feel like less of a complete failure (which is also a fine thing). Man, that music, yo. I think it's my favourite piece of music from the whole damn movie.Still, the transformation scene brings tears to my eyes EVERY TIME. When she sets down her comb and picks up her father's orders...just...tears. And when she's walking towards her ancestors to the beat of the music...CHILLS.
And then when her dad is running outside trying to find her in the rain. Many sads. I also love the scene at the end when he takes the gifts from the Emperor and just chucks them away because screw that, he just loves his kid and is happy to see her alive.
