Did we ever get the story on Blank's stitched up skin?

He's like Frankenstein's creation. Was there ever a plot point directed at his origins or can this just be written off due to the fact that most FFIX characters have a fantastical look to them?

He looks a lot like a doll, in my opinion. I'd argue all the cast has a storybook-like quality to him.

What made my interest be piqued is I assumed Marcus and Cinna were orcs or trolls or goblins because they have a look to them. There's only a handful of characters who are clearly human in this game.

Maybe his name is Blank because he doesn't have a name. He really is just a reanimated corpse like in Frankenstein. He turned out better than that monster with adapting to society, but he still just never knew exactly how belts were supposed to work.

Keep in mind that he is essentially blind as well on top of everything. I don't know if he may actually be blind, but there is no seeing through that belt over his face.
