<.<
I saw, 'Don't take it personally babe, it just ain't your story' in your first post and though number 93 was FFX.
Not sure how many people have played this entry but here we go. Also, I've played none of the sequels
Jak and Daxter is about two friends, some bad guys, and one of them being turned in to some weird orange otter/weasel creature and them trying to turn him back. There's some sages that pertain to the story as well.
This is, I'm told, a platforming game. You play as Jak and go around swirling and jumping and defeating bad guys through many levels which include things like lava and other such things trying to kill you.
Jak and Daxter was one of my first PS2 games ever and I played the crap out of it when I was younger. I sucked at it and it took me forever, but I still had a lot of fun. There were some genuinely interesting areas, some really fun spots, funny moments, and some good characters. It'll never be my favourite game, but I look back at my hours spent with it and I regret nothing. Would play again happily.
Fun game. Silly, mindless fun. It had a fair amount of humor to it. It also had the typical "go collect these random colored balls/diamonds/orbs/pendants" style quest that were typical platforming fair.
I played it, beat it, liked it, and never got another one. The sequels looked like they were trying to make it too dark and serious after the first one.
Ottsel.
And I really like this game. Jak II did become a bit more dark, and a huge amount more difficult. Jak 3 eased off that a bit and went back to a happier more fun sort of thing. All in all a pretty fun series.
They are very much a continuous story. I mean, if you like the gameplay, then sure. But if the plot and world building is something you like.
*low whistle* Hello, my name is ToriJ. How are you this fine evening?
Ah, I remember Jak and Daxter. I haven't played it, but I remember it.
Good news, everyone! Thanks to one of the things I needed to do, I can now post 3 entries a day. So now this list will only take a month instead of almost 2! yaaaay!
Second and last visual novel on my list:
Hakuouki (or Hakuoki with an accent over the o that I can't type) follows a young woman as she goes out in search of her father. Along the way she is attacked by crazy men, saved by more crazy men, who she forms a bond with, and eventually learns that some strange stuff has been going on.
Hakuouki is a visual novel, meaning it's basically an interactive book with branching paths. There are several paths involving the main characters depending on your choices during the story.
You can ask sharky about this one, I had my face in my PSP almost non stop when I started. The story really grabbed me, it was weird, but still sweet and touching. Some of the art and writing was beautiful, and most of the characters were interesting. It has a lot of drama and some twists and turns, but I never felt it was overdone. It was a bit creepy at times, but it added to the overall atmosphere, which I really enjoyed. It wasn't very long, but there are a lot of different paths and it's easy to replay. Overall great story and atmosphere.
I really want to play the first Jak game. I've only played some of Jak II, and I wasn't a big fan. Jak and Daxter always looked like a lot of fun though.
Now this one I haven't ever heard of. But you make it sound interesting. I don't have a PSP, but it seems there are also English releases on PS3 and Android, so I might just go and check it out. I don't see too many visual novels with a female POV character.
So that's all the visual novels. I almost expected Phoenix Wright to pop up given that it's quite easily the most well-known Japanese visual novel*(though it borders on being an adventure game) in America and Europe. Oh well, it seems a couple of great visual novels are coming to Steam this year so I'm hopeful that the medium will get more exposure ^^
With that out of the way, let's see how many of the next 90 games I know or have played...
