    Default 90. The Promised Land

Not sure how many people have player or heard of this one

    90. The Promised Land (PC)

The Promised Land is about a group of settlers. It's not a super deep story. You're basically colonizing the land and searching for some things and making the place a nice little place to be while fulfilling your goals.

In this game, you will receive goals you have to fulfill and also some little people that you will assign tasks. Each person has something they love and hate doing. Putting them on a task they hate will make them much slower, and putting them on one they love will be faster. Eventually they will become specialists in a certain area if you keep them there long enough. There's lots of things you need to make sure they do, like gather food, lumber, ores, research, build houses, etc. You also have to make sure they eat, and heal them if they're sick. One you assign someone their task, they will continue doing it until they break for food or until you switch them or until they run out of supplies. A few other reasons but you get the idea. There's also an angry birds type mini game with the ships.

This is Mark. He likes to work at the Metal smith's shop
because he knows his wife won't find him there.
He suspects his co-worker Martin is a stoner

This is the only Steam game I've bought that I am actually happy I bought. I mean the others I'm okay with, but I barely played them and moved on. This game is super fun, though. You really start to care about your little worker bees and I started assigning them personalities and back stories. It's kind of addictive. I'm always like “10 more minutes” and I'll be playing for an hour and then I HAVE to stop because my computer sucks and it will shut down the game after too long. I'd say a fault is the difficulty. Not that it's difficult, but just that there will be certain points where things will get really hard and then suddenly they will be too easy and you kind of have nothing to do. But overall a really fun game and I'm glad I got Steam just for it.

Later today, we will get in to the 80's

I was a huuuuuuge Spyro PS1 fan, so Jak and Daxter seemed like it would be that for the PS2, and it pretty much was. Some of the challenges were INSANE, but I actually managed to get every precursor orb on my second playthrough. (And have never played it since.)

I'm discussing my 108, er, 111 favorite games of all time in THIS THREAD so go check it out and join the conversation!

    Default 89. Pokemon Stadium

I haven't played the second one, although I'd like to try it someday

I don't know what the story is here. Is there even one? You're apparently battling Pokemon in the Pokemon Stadium.

This game centers largely around the Pokemon battling. You can enter different tournaments, which will allow for different types of Pokemon. They also have a mini-game section and some other stuff. There are a wide variety of mini-games involving different goals.

This was actually my very first Pokemon game. I really enjoyed it. I liked having to choose different teams for different tournaments and pretending I was the awesomest Pokemon trainer ever. But the real joy came from the mini-games. I could waste HOURS on those things. The Rattata run and the Lickitung ones were my favourite, but I enjoyed all of them. Some were hard on the hands though and the game has given me a fair amount of finger blisters. Still, not the best Pokemon game I've played by far, but so much fun and lots of good memories.

Pokemon Stadium rules! I used to spend all day playing that. I had Pikachu go up against Charizar.

    Pikachu won.

I tried The Promised Land for fun after Pumpkin.

It was much more light-hearted affair, as their were no rival groups or natural disasters, but it was still a fun little resource management game in the same family as AOE or SIM whatever. It was fun to pick up and play for a little bit.

    Default 88. Spyro 2

    88. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (PlayStation)

This Spyro game is about how poor Spyro can't even take a vacation without having to defeat comical, dragon hating villains.

This game plays similar to other Spyro games of the time. You can leap, glide, breathe fire, and headbut things. You go through portals in to other worlds which have different environments, you collect gems and talismans and orbs. Certain levels also have little mini-games in them as well. Your dragonfly acts as your life bar, turning from yellow to blue to green and then disappearing. If you're attacked after he has disappeared you'll lose a life.

I had a lot of fun with this game. I love going in to different worlds (especially the underwater ones) and seeing the different little creatures who lived there. The series has (had?) a good sense of humour and were generally just a joy to play. I always got excited for the new worlds, and this is one of the few games I try to complete to 100%. Spyro is a pretty likeable guy and although the story is pretty shallow, it's still entertaining.

    Yesss Spyro!

Also some interesting other games I've not played on the list. It's interesting stuff! I love seeing what games people are passionate about, even if I have totally different tastes.

Love me some Spyro. Hate what they did to the series. The first 3 were fantastic.

Gateway to Glimmer (the cool PAL title) was my least favourite of the original Spyro series. It was too easy and really short. Still loved it though!
