88. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (PlayStation)

This Spyro game is about how poor Spyro can't even take a vacation without having to defeat comical, dragon hating villains.

This game plays similar to other Spyro games of the time. You can leap, glide, breathe fire, and headbut things. You go through portals in to other worlds which have different environments, you collect gems and talismans and orbs. Certain levels also have little mini-games in them as well. Your dragonfly acts as your life bar, turning from yellow to blue to green and then disappearing. If you're attacked after he has disappeared you'll lose a life.

I had a lot of fun with this game. I love going in to different worlds (especially the underwater ones) and seeing the different little creatures who lived there. The series has (had?) a good sense of humour and were generally just a joy to play. I always got excited for the new worlds, and this is one of the few games I try to complete to 100%. Spyro is a pretty likeable guy and although the story is pretty shallow, it's still entertaining.
