What's the difference between dinner and supper?

Supper is a term used by Southerners.
There really is no difference, imo.

I've always thought it was a Southern terminology for "Dinner" but like Supper is a bit earlier of a mealtime.
I usually consider supper a light bite to eat after dinner.
It's funny how there are so many mixed terms.
In Northern England a lot of us call the midday meal "dinner" and the evening meal "tea"
In Southern England it's usually "lunch" and "dinner" respectively, but some (generally seems to be posher people) call the evening one "supper".
The only thing that has universal agreement is breakfast, and not everyone eats that

Dinner is clearly the best, but I do love me some brunch as well.

Dinner, because that's when there's the most time to play around and see what can be made out of random ingredients.
