Thread: Marvel Studios (approved) Spider-Man reboot

  1. #1

Question Marvel Studios (approved) Spider-Man reboot

Do you think the Marvel approved Spider-Man reboot might be better than the Sam Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy? Because they said, they're going for a new villain who's never been realized before on film and they said that they're inspired by the 1980's John Hughes style of humor, and they desperately want some kind of levity like that in their new Spider-Man films.

I think unless it makes The Dark Knight look like the Wolverine movies, I will struggle to have any interest in yet another Spider-Man reboot. Hopefully the Russo brothers will give him a decent cameo in Captain America: Civil War anyway.

You're not interested in seeing what new director Jon Watts can do for Spider-Man? I mean, Marvel Studios trusts the guy with one of their flagship characters so why can't you?

Spiderman was just rebooted. I wish they'd just stop it.

It's Sony's fault for not letting Spider-Man slip through their fingers after Spider-Man 3. Because if they had, then it would have been a whole different ball game...But no, Sony had to try and soldier on by themselves for one reboot and it wasn't selling like hot cakes so they did the only they could possibly do at this point. Which is throw in the towel. Sony realizes that they can't compete with Marvel Studios anymore and so, you know what they say, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!"

Don't care about any of that that. I am tired of Spiderman at this stage, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Yeah, and I was sick of Lois Lane after Superman Returns, but you know what? I went to go see Man of Steel and they showed me what Lois Lane is really like, and I said to myself, "You know what? She's not so bad."

The Sony Spider-Man movies were better than the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, so I have no doubt a Marvel approved one will be the best we've seen yet. I think they'll be smart enough to skip the origin story this time and go right to the action. Spidey is like Superman and Batman, everyone knows his origins by this point.

A new villain that hasn't been in the movies yet would be ideal, too.

Congratulations? You asked for my opinion and that is that I am really not excited for more Spiderman. I don't know why this opinion is riling you up so much.

I'm just telling you, if you give the movie a chance, it might surprise you. I don't get why so many people don't go into movies with an open mind. I mean, it's not like it's that hard to go into a movie with an open mind, I did it with the god damn Star Wars prequels, even though every time I did do that I came out of the theater unsatisfied.

    Again, congratulations.

I will end up seeing the second Spiderman reboot (15 years for two reboots is still ridiculous). I may be pleasantly surprised (it will be hard pressed to disappoint me if I go in with low expectations). But I just do not care about it at all at this point, and its existence just makes me sigh in exasperation.

This thread exists for me to post my opinion in, and I still don't know why it is riling you up so much.

Yeah, getting riled up over different opinions is my thing. Get your own gimmick.

I'm not riled, I just saying that Marvel Studios has a pretty good track record and they're basically hired this nobody (Jon Watts) to direct a Spider-Man film set within the MCU. It's kind of a big deal because we've never had a Spider-Man film set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe before. We've always had Spider-Man cut off from the Avengers, and the rest of the MCU. Also, for a long time now I've always wanted to see Spider-Man take on the Kingpin of Crime and now they're both a part of the MCU...It's just one is on Netflix and the other is on the big screen.

I'd love to see Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin in a Spider-Man movie. That pegs the question if they'd add anyone from the Netflix TV series into any of the movies, though. Spider-Man had several run ins with Daredevil to my recollection, as well.
