It's Sony's fault for not letting Spider-Man slip through their fingers after Spider-Man 3. Because if they had, then it would have been a whole different ball game...But no, Sony had to try and soldier on by themselves for one reboot and it wasn't selling like hot cakes so they did the only they could possibly do at this point. Which is throw in the towel. Sony realizes that they can't compete with Marvel Studios anymore and so, you know what they say, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!"
