    Let the council die? Racist.

I'm assuming this decision will have serious repercussions in ME2? If I saved the council would I have still managed to defeat Sovereign?

Yeah you beat him regardless. Not sure how much of an impact it has later because i only just started mass effect 2 for the first time last week.

Aww man, maybe I should have done that

I just thought I didn't want to sacrifice a load of ships trying to save the council. Why are their lives worth more?

I think the purpose of the choice is to see how each individual respond to different situations when they don't have foresight. Your reasoning for choosing what you did is 100% valid and interesting to think about.

Yeah, might impact some relationships later on, particularly from what I know of 3 but I don't know if it screws you out of any options going one way or the other. If it doesn't I would actually rather it did.

The purpose of the choice is that up to that point you can be completely neutral, and that forces a renegade or paragon path. It changes some dialog in two. In three it changes what war resources you get between their ship or something else (a stronger alliance navy or something) but the change is balanced so no real change.

Congrats! The beginning of ME2 will blow you away, and then the story just gets better.

You were Paragon all the way through, weren't you? Therefore the new council will be multi-species but human led, which is definitely better than if you were Renegade aligned, where the council is all-human. I still save the council though, but it'll be interesting to see what happens without the original council members. Who will be replaced, how will they be different? I'm looking forward to it. Like Ayen said, you made your choice without the assistance of hindsight or knowing what will happen further down the line, so I say stick with your original decision and come what may.

Thanks everyone! I did really enjoy this game. It was made all the better for your non-spoilerific comments and input! Like I said, I'll be putting a full review up here before I start ME2

I most certainly was! I'm actually eager to play through as a Femshep Renegade so I can see both sides. Obviously not till I'm done with Paragon though.

I maxed out my paragon meter though I did have a little bit of my renegade meter filled up too. I'd like to see the intimidate options on a subsequent play through.

Yeah Vivi22 just started ME2 as well! So i've been so giddy hearing all you guys' thoughts on it.

I do recommend the DLC in both 2 and 3 though. You got the collection didn't you? Does it have the DLC with it?

Yeah, it all comes with it

I'll be firing up Mass Effect 2 next week once the Ciddies are over. I'm mega-excited already!

ME: 2 is much more faster paced in combat than ME: 1, so you'll need time to adjust. I know I did!

I'm about 70% or so through 2 Bubba and it's better in pretty much every respect to the first. It's actually the only Bioware game I've played to date that makes it past being average to being a genuinely good game in my mind. Absolutely enjoying all of it to this point.
