Of all the games in the pantheon, probably no feature pleases me the most than creating your own character. Giving them a name, a face, and depending on the game, a personality as well.
This thread is an opportunity to share all your wonderful unique, colourful characters you've created. Be it Dragon Age, Fallout, Elder Scrolls, The Sims - share your creations with the rest of EoFF!
I've got three to share, currently. The first is Alexander Shepard, my male playthrough. The images are only taken on a camera; I don't have a fancy screen capture device. They're from ME 1 through to ME 3.
Not much changed between them. I gave him some stubble in ME3 to represent how tired of saving the world he becomes. He obviously doesn't have time to shave.
The next set is from my recent Dragon Age playthrough with Hawke, again with a male. I played female the first time, so I thought I'd change it up. I like how he came out.
The game takes places over eight years. The picture was used in Act 1 and Act 2. For the final Act of the game, I depicted the passage of time by changing the skin complexion up one slide, and gave him a full beard over his existing stubble. I liked that I could do this using the Black Emporium DLC. It gives a nice opportunity to make the game just that bit more realistic.
Finally, we have Tristan Lavellan from Dragon Age: Inquisition. This one was interesting because I was basing it directly from Tristan from the Brave Vesperia RP. My Elven Archer Rogue was saintly and sarcastic in equal measure, just like Hawke. Here are a few photos that I shared elsewhere.
I like the second photo. Looks like a boyband photo. The Black Emporium returns in this game as free DLC, and I added a scar to Tristan's left cheek after a major incident about a third of the way through the game - you'll know what I mean if you've played it.
Over to you! If you've captured some photos of your characters, I'd loved to look.
And this is slightly off-topic, but because I know you guys love romances - my Hawke seen above totally romanced the pants off of Fenris. And Tristan Lavellan is pansexual, and decided to be all 'squee!' with Dorian.
Wait, did I mean that, I meant I went squee. It was very cute.
She's a total snob, but deep down fiercely loyal and protective. She can be a real snarky ice queen a lot of the time but sometimes she lets a squishy side come through.
I get super bored in character creation after a while and just start picking random bits (unless they look terrible), which is why in ME I was happy to just mash A until the game started.
Character creation isn't particularly great if you take it seriously. You just pick features that are attractive until you have a generic looking protagonist.
If you make joke characters though then you get hilarious glory like Robbaz.
Oh man. My wife always mocks me for spending like an hour on every sim I create, picking out all the right details in the face, body and clothing. I can share some of my creations later, as I'm at work for now.
That said, it's cool when it's there, but it's not something that I really need or even look for in a game to enjoy it. Most of the games that I enjoy the most have pre-created characters and most of the time I prefer those for their more cohesive designs and stuff. The exception to the rule are the Sims because the pre-created sims usually look kinda lame.
