Well, you partially already said it yourself, pandemic hit game release schedules hard.
Beyond that though, it's only been around for 1 and a half years (certainly nowhere near 4 years
) and in that time has done admirably despite covid. Yeah Miles Morales, Forbidden West and (later this year) God of War: Ragnarok are also still on PS4, but they're a heck of a lot more appealing on PS5.
For actual exclusives there's been Demon Souls, Returnal and Ratchet & Clank (and Astro's Playroom if you want to count that), which honestly beats the PS4 exclusives until Bloodborne came around (which was 1 and a half years in the PS4's lifetime, so that's where PS5 is at currently).
I'll grant you that the PS5 doesn't have its Bloodborne yet (since Demon Souls was just a remake), but then if it wasn't for delays, Forspoken would've been out already (and i know it will almost surely not be "as good" as Bloodborne, or hit that modern-cult-classic status, but it is up there in terms of being high profile). Then once we hit 2023 (edit: typo'd as 2024 initially
), they'll drop PS4 support and start focusing on pure PS5 exclusives, which given the short supply of PS5s, honestly a 2 year cross-gen grace period is something I can appreciate.
tldr; for now just the fact that it's technically way better than a PS4, but that's not much different from past generations this "early" in the gen, and that'll swiftly change in the next year.
