Least promoted FF release ever?

Well, since FF became mainstream, anyway. So maybe least promoted since... VI? VII?

I feel so, so little hype. I've got it paid for and will play it on release and have time off, but man, I've heard nothing about it, really, hype-wise. It feels so weird.

I think you're just not on the right sites or places. The Twitter feed has been slow dripping teasers/info for months now, the demo just came out and now I have to avoid all my Discord servers because it's the only thing people want to talk about besides Tears of the Kingdom. Hell the Square-Enix store even has a contest to win a FFXVI PS5 bundle.

I feel like the official company releases on their own social media is a pretty standard arena that will always be basically the same, though. Has there really been much advertising of the game outside of the places they have direct control over? Anyone seen any paid commercials, billboards, online ads, etc?

It definitely exists, and a quick Internet search indicates that there were twitch ads and it showed up during some UEFA match, so I think there's a decent amount ongoing.

I don't know about the world in general, but FFXVI definitely already has more attention here than Strangers of Paradise ever received

I did see a FFXVI bus in Glasgow (or at least going to Glasgow? idk, it had Glasgow painted on the side) on reddit! Not as cool as the one you posted above though.
