Do you sound different on the phone?

I thought of this just coz ive just got of the phone where the person said..
"Hi.. is Amy there? Its Rachel."
Me> "Yeh? .... It is me..?"
"OOOOOh! hehe it didn't sound like you.."

Thats the reason im afraid to answer the phone,
so has that happened to you?

My voice sounds slightly different, but it is still recognisable.
But apparently I always sound really quiet on the phone, but I haven't noticed.

I sound like a lil five year old apparently! I swear I'm older! Sumtimes when i ahve a cold though, i sound like an old man!! My Freinds shouldn't phone me at lunch times when I'm off sick and they thougth i was my dad!

I'm petrified of phoning people house phones! Their parents might pick up!

I sound like a drunken man on the phone and I'm a 15 year old girl!!!! On voice recorder tapes I sound fine but on the phone and on my video recorder phone *sigh*

People tend to think I'm my mom when I answer the phone because I answer it in such a monotone voice. But my voice is so cutesy, I don't even know how I could ever sound like my mom.

I sound different in that I sound even more like an idiot than I do in real life, which is really saying something.

When I am on the phone people tend to say that I sound like a 12 yr old cheerleader. Although I can't stand cheerleaders and I'm 18 years old although I guess I have the voice to go with my look. I look about 12 because I am so short and tiny lol.
