Darkness is _sort of_ a metaphor for evil. But as Squall in FFVIII says, there is no good and evil, there are only two sides with different views. So it might not be entirely evil 
and remember that what we call evil is a side, so it has it's representants... enough about that.
Duality wasn't meant to be very complex; just the act of being two/divided/apart.
It does not appear in an FMV.
