quite possibly in the wrong forum!

I just received a PS2, and was wondering what exactly I need to be able to save PSX games. I've heard that you just need to put a PSX memory card into the PS2, is this correct? I desperatley want to play ff9, it was one of the main reasons I got the PS2. Help would be greatly appreciated.

You need a PSX memory card for PSX games, and PS2 cards for PS2 games.

To note: you can copy PS1 data to a PS2 card, even though you really won't be able to do anything with it. But yeah, PS1 cards aren't very expensive. (Found a package of two for only $10 awhile ago! )

you can play PSX games on the PS2, even from files you saved. you cannot save a PSX game into a PS2 memory card though. you can put the memory card in either of the two slots...

If your gonna save FF9 on a PSX memory card, make sure you save more than one file, FF9 data's always getting corrupted. Or does this only happen to me?.

It never gets corrupted with me. Might just be bad luck for you?

there are some slight glitches with psx games in ps2 consoles.

    maybe that might explain it.

There is, but it is a small amount. Certain games save corrupted data while saving to a PSX memory card loaded in the PS2. FFIX isn't one of them, but I think that either Chronicles or Anthologies is (rare chance). Among this list of culprits is one of the Mortal Kombat games on the PSX, and a bunch of no-name games.

Otherwise, you can play all PSX games on the PS2, you just can't save with a few of them 100%. The memory can only be saved to PSX cards, but transferrable to PS2 cards, not that you can do anything with it. It doesn't matter which slot you put either card you put it in.
