Best Member. The top award of the Ciddies, this is all about EoFF. Past winners are big names - Cid, back in the days of the EoFF Awards in 2000, was followed by Acmlm and Nino Brown who tied later that same year. They were followed by Scottie in the last EoFF Awards before the Ciddies came into place and Dr Unne began his reign, picking up five consecutive wins over two and a half years. In the December of 2003, Dr Unne couldn't manage more than 5th place, though, as Loony BoB took his first win, only to not even make the finals in June 2004, where Del Murder would add his name to the top line of the Hall of Fame. In the three most recent Ciddies, BoB would return to victory, with Del Murder, The Captain and eestlinc all falling short. And so we come to today, 10th June 2006, and it's time to see if we'll be seeing BoB continue his run or if we'll see a new winner - not a single one of the other finalists has won this award. We have three Administrators (including two Senior Site Staff), six Cid's Knights, one ex-Recognized Member, one Site Staff and two veterans. We have three chat ops. We have four foxy females and nine manly (ha! I kill me!) men. I suppose I should say a little bit about them...

In times now past, Dignified Pauper was better known (and to some people, still is) as 'Marick', a mild-mannered reporter who would inform us of any gossip and scandals, ensuring that EoFF life was never dull. Since then, he has taken it upon himself to start up many projects. Unfortunately, many of them have not managed to be completed, indeed I'm not entirely sure if any of his plans have ever come into fruition - which does make you wonder just how he missed out on Most Likely To Be Wile E. Coyote! However, he's not Ciddieless tonight, having made success from his poetry. This poor (but dignified) Irish homosexual poetic Shinra-hating brownie-loving rainbow-advocating EoFF regular (actually a Veteran, but I'll let his sig slide) has been asking for us all to vote Marick D. Pauper and will no doubt be more than happy to add the Best Member Ciddie to his name with a well-rocked vote.

Someone a bit more familiar to the Best Member nominee list is probably a bit more likely to win, though - and eestlinc is not to be dismissed by any means. Without his one-time-Best-Member second account, Del Murder, in the running this time around, eest would not be a bad bet for victory by any means. eest has a lot going for him, actually, with the average traits of past Best Members all there - a high-posting staffer who tends to get voted/nominated more for "Best ____" categories than the MLTs, he posts with excellent spelling, so much that I often forget that he (quite intentionally) leaves out a lot of capital letters - but that's all part of the eest side style. eest was left empty handed earlier tonight after failing to extend on his run of four consecutive Best Poet Ciddies, so he'll be gunning for the big one this time around. Is it now eest's time to shine?

The feisty, foxy, fire_of_avalon suits her name. She's hot, man. She's sexy - we've already got that set in stone, after she took Sexiest Female home despite the plethora of attractive women (or at least, attractively disguised men) here at EoFF who were all in the running. But don't dismiss her for just another pretty face - she's one of the best friends a person could have, according to BoB. She does it all - she's an effective Cid's Knight, an op in #eoff, a helpful go-to person when you have trouble in life, a caring friend when you're feeling down, a great laugh when you're looking for fun and if you're in a crude mood then she'll slap you out of it without a second thought. Surely all of this is more than enough to warrant her position in the nominees list, and it quite possibly is enough to get her all the way to the finish line - will foa be the hottest ever Best Member to grace EoFF?

Okay, just quickly - am I the only person who found it amusing that Jebus got a nomination for the bus Ciddies? I mean... it's Jebus! He's got bus in his name! Haha! ...yeah, okay, I'll get on with it now. Jebus has been rising up the ranks of one of EoFF's authoritive groups in the past six months, with himself and the pre-mentioned foa being promoted from sometimes-ops to auto-ops in #eoff, EoFF's official chatroom. Always leaving 'subtle' (*cough*) hints that he would oh-so-love it if he were to be a Cid's Knight, and that he should already be one, and that he would make a really great one, and and and yeah. Even if his begging is futile, it's amusing all the same. Jebus, who was nominated for Horniest Member as a joke after proclaiming he was an asexual, will definitely have a lot of backers, and even if he can't climb his way up to Knighthood, he sure can pull in votes for Best Member. Jebus won his first Ciddie in December, and it would certainly raise eyebrows if he followed that Most Underrated Member award with Best Member just six months later!

kikimm, the non-#eoffer who gave the #eoffers a run for their money in Best Chatter, is a usernote-posting thread-modding ass kikking machine. One could say kikimm has been unlucky so far tonight - she was the leading lady in nominations for Best Female but ended up lacking those four votes that would have lead her to victory in the finals. That leaves her with one Ciddie left on her mind - this one. She's not a stranger to this level, either, having been in the running in December... but she'll be looking to make a vast improvement, ending in last place on that occasion with four votes. kikimm has her fans aplenty, though, and to dismiss this well-loved Cid's Angel would be a mistake. Just ask those people who left her those usernotes... all 14,214 of them. That's insane, Kristina. x_x;

The first of the nominees to have already won more than one Ciddie tonight, Leeza has already picked up Evilest Member, a trophy that will look odd in contrast with her five consecutive Nicest Member awards of past events. Also winning her fourth consecutive Best Cid's Knight Ciddie, it seems you guys actually like having an evil Cid's Knight on your hands... still, the runner-up to the Highwind Award for Forums Staffers, Leeza has commanded respect from people of all groups at EoFF. She's not just a gritty, hard-nosed moderator though - to a large amount of us, she's also a caring friend, a good counsellor, second mother or a, er, cat. With those two Ciddies under her belt, she's proved that she's more than capable of bringing in the votes, so she may well have the best chance of making herself the first female winner. She's also the only girl who, although by only a single predictor, managed to get predicted to win. Is this nice, evil Cid's Knight capable of pulling off victory? We'll soon find out!

Neel Hates Clout's Guts, because clout wouldn't let Neel have his username stay beyond 25 characters. This princeofdarknez has gone a long way over the years, and his username has gone all over the place, too - not just with his longer "Neel With" names but also shorter names such as -N- - and he would have had just N, too, if the admins would have let him. Well known for trying to push boundaries lately, Neel unfortunately went a step too far and lost his Recognized Member status, something he earned some time ago for writing up an updated version of the Which EoFFer Are You? online quiz. In the past six months, it's been about a different kind of Neel than that, though, as he's been getting involved with April Fool's dramas when he hasn't been making a vain attempt to revive the EoFF Post (again with DP), posting while drunk, posting while sober (although it's sometimes hard to tell the difference), doing that whole username thing or else just getting into trouble. Still, there's no such thing as bad publicity, and this rings true as Neel has pushed himself into some highly regarded company as a Best Member finalist, and will no doubt be looking to bring this Ciddie back to BoB's home nation, New zealand, where Neel has been spending most of his time in recent months.

And that brings us to Psychotic, the favourite to become the next new Best Member at EoFF. Given that this time the winner of Best Member only pulled it off by one vote, it's very possible that he has indeed achieved a one-up on his long-time arch-rival, possibly proving that you need to be on Staff to get your name engraved onto this big, golden Cid's-head-on-a-stick. Now, they often say that winning Best Male is consolation to those who don't win Best Member, and going by that logic, two-time Best Male Psychotic not winning that award this time around may be a much bigger sign than people might have realised - does this mean that Psy is no longer getting consolation votes (but then, of course, going by that logic, eest may just have this one in the bag!)? The newest Cid's Knight at EoFF, Psy has been rather subdued in the past month or two thanks to him having to abide by the rules and set an example rather than his usual staff-slating, spammerific antics which Levian has happily taken charge of. That hasn't changed his popularity with the masses though, and he still has friends in every corner of EoFF, something I don't see ever changing. Enough friends to push the voting in his favour? I don't think anyone would dismiss that idea. Psychotic is most certainly one of the safer bets for Best Member, and we could be seeing a very big day for this highly entertaining Liverpool fan.

RSL is one of the nicest people you could ever know. Really. I can't think of a single time this guy was ever mean or nasty in his time at EoFF, or even outside of EoFF. Neither can BoB. And BoB's known him for almost six years. Six years, and not once mean/nasty. But then, anyone who knows RSL won't be very surprised. He really is just that nice - he's a big, cuddly teddy bear. Not just cute - with the help of what is arguably the greatest beard in EoFF, if not the world, RSL has become the first male to achieve the feat Ally managed in late 2002 and Chaos repeated in mid-2004 by picking up both Cutest and sexiest awards in a single Ciddies event. Is there anything this guy can't do? He's already added Best Male to his collection and will no doubt be modest about his chances of pulling off victory in this one, but one Dignified Pauper says his chances of victory are much bigger than that, and BoB has already backed up Pauper's prediction with his vote. RSL was third in the nominations tally, and will certainly pick up more votes than noms. Will the RSL fanboys and fangirls of the world be pushing our Eeyore loving admin to the biggest win of his Ciddies life (this is debateable, that MLT Be David Hasselhoff was pretty big)? Find out soon!

rubah being in the final means that every female Cid's Knight who has been around for the entirity of the past six months has made it to the finals for Best Member, and every female in the final is a Cid's Knight. I think that might be a first. Sakura Yume would be proud! She has the backing of #eoff, she's a Cid's Knight (which always helps, only on one occasion has Best Member gone to a non-staffer), she's got skills, she's got style, she's got sex appeal, she's got a cute boyfriend that can vouch for all of this (and he's got all of them, too!), she certainly won't be missing out on votes with all that. You need more than a lot of things going for you to win this one, though, and last December's Best (not to mention Sexiest) Female has repeated her Best Chatter victory, and although she hasn't been able to repeat her Most Likely To Get Together win, she's handed it back in exchange for the Cutest Couple award, something she was most likely more than happy to do! Fast climbing her way up the all-time Ciddies winners list with six wins in two Ciddies events, will she have the momentum to keep it going with a Best Member Ciddie? It's not long now until we know for sure...

He did what some thought was impossible. Samuraid, facing up against a record-equalling seven-time winner of Most Helpful Techy in cl_out, would be forgiven to think that a win against the -posting machine simply could not be done. cl_out amassed a whopping 43 votes, and I'm pretty sure that no member has ever passed 32 votes and not won, let alone 40. But Samuraid got 46, in what was probably the biggest one-on-one (no disrespect to the other finalist, Yamaneko) battle in Ciddies history. Samuraid prevailed, though, and possibly the first-ever member - outside of Cid, of course -to start his forums staff life as an administrator got only his second Ciddie to his name. A winner of last year's Highwind Award for Site Staff, Samuraid has consistently gone out of his way to make EoFF a better place, working on the frontsite and forums alike, not just with techy stuff but now also contributing to the community with his moderating and contributions to Staff Forum discussions. This is one member who nobody can ever say does not do anything for EoFF, and I'm confident that one of the things he reads most often when communicating with EoFFers is "Thankyou!" Is it now time for us to be saying thankyou once more - this time with a Best Member Ciddie?

The Site Staff is represented not just by the senior members, with theundeadhero making another appearance in the finals. Quite surprisingly even to myself, theundeadhero has only ever won a single Ciddie - Best Site Staff, twelve months ago. Perhaps he is more deserving of thost Most Underrated Member nominations and votes than we realise - or else maybe he's just unlucky in that other people have quite often pipped him to the big time. What better way to add to his Best Site Staff Ciddie with a Best Member Ciddie, though!? hero is an extremely hard worker at EoFF, working both behind the scenes with his coding which he has been improving over the months with purely so he can assist EoFF's frontsite work. That's not all, though, as hero also strives to keep the community interesting, with such things as Battle of the Bands and the EoFF RPG Giveaway contest - which even featured some hot NES & SNES prizes that came out of hero's own retro Final Fantasy collection! This soldier has put a lot of effort into making EoFF a better place and, like those mentioned above, is more than deserving of anyone's vote.

And now, with all that said and done, it's time to find out just how many votes each of these guys and girls got.
