I volunteered to present the 1st Bi-Annual 2006 Ciddie for 'Most Underrated member' mainly because underrated things are overlooked and forgotten, and the fact that there is an award to be given out. Now before we get to that, I ask you all, what is Underrated to you? What does it truly mean to be underrated?
Well of course the generic Dictionary defines the word 'underrated' as “derivative of underrate; underrate: to rate too low, or to underestimate.” Wow... that might just be vague enough to work... but it's always good to look a little further when finding these kinds of things out... so I checked up on everyone's favorite information site 'Wikipedia' to see what some of the characteristics that underrated things have in common. Underrated video games, for example, are generally marked in reaching of a cult status. That's something new, now what does it mean to be in a cult status? Cult video games are said to be games that though “garnering limited sales figures, they attracted a loyal fanbase and earned generally great reviews from the press.”
Does that mean that an underrated member of EoFF, bringing in limited praise and recognition, attract enough other members that enjoy them and generally classify that member as a good, or maybe even a n outstanding member? I think it might. I happen to know of quite a few members that might fit into this category and have, in fact, generated a population of other members, may it be a small one, that favor them almost to all the other members though all the other members might not even recognize that stated member.
Now, one might ask, what about all the other members that might post and just never talk to anyone? Well, the way I see it, one can only be underrated if there is a reason for their presence to be “rated to low”. Maybe they just don't strive to make their presence known? But what would make it so that whatever rating they receive as “to low”.
To have a general rating that is too low it a general opinion of a population that generally find that member to be outstanding in more ways than the norm, though normally overlooked.
So with that said, an underrated member can only be said to be underrated on the general opinion of the population in a whole. And you as a population have chosen the following as your Most Underrated Finalists:
