I don't usually check. I accidentally posted in one of those revived 'newbie' threads the other day without even realising that it was from 2004.

I usually check the date when the thread was started and when the latest posts were sent. If the discussion is going pretty well and there's something I can add there, and especially if a mod has also posted on the revived thread without closing it, I might actually post in an old thread. With old threads, I sometimes recognize them anyway. "Hey, wasn't there a thread like this about a year ago... wait a sec, this is the same thread!"

I always check the date. Cant be bothered with time, but date, very important.
Every so often I'll check the date on the first and last post.
