New to the community

Hi everyone. This is just a short hello from a fellow FF enthusiast who has just joined these forums.

A breif history of my FF career:

The thanksgiving of my senior year in highschool, I downloaded an SNES emulator and the game Dragon Quest IV (I think it was IV). This was the first RPG I had ever played (with the exception of some Zelda games) as I had been more acquainted with action type games (Metal Gear, Syphon Filter, Rainbow Six)

This game blew my mind. Absolutely redefined everything I knew about gaming, and truely got me interested in RPGs.

My friend had recently purchased FFX for the PS2 and I was at his house and watched him play it. The graphics and detail and mood of the game made me want to play soooo bad. But he wouldn't let me. Instead, he gave me a copy of FFVII and a guide and said "Go home and play this, and if you're not hooked in an hour, it's not meant for you"

Well, I went home and played for about 4 hours and was so hooked it was nuts.


From that day forth, I have been in love with the RPG genre. I have completed every FF from FFIII to FFX-2 and i played FFXI for about a year and a half. I also played many other RPGs in the Dragon Quest series, Suidoken, Dark Clous, and DOT HACK. I tried out the SaGa series, but most of them..well..sucked. I've been a very loyal Square customer though, and even tried Crystal Chronicles for GC (which was awful).

After my time with FFXI ended, I got back to some traditional RPGs like Shadow Hearts, and Suikoden. Then I discovered WoW. I played World of Warcraft up until last week, when I realized that it was taking me away from everything else I enjoyed doing. (Plus, I had just gotten FFXII at the midnight release).

So, being part of the WoW forum community for almost a year, I felt a void in my life. It was then I discovered eyesonff.com. A wealth of information, streaming radio (to keep me sane at work) and a great community of players here.

So it is here that I say 'Hello' and introduce myself as I hope to become a contributing and respected member of this community.

Though my posting name is idrumgood, my avatar name that I have traditionally gone by is Striveldt, so that is why I shall normally sign my name as.

I am a 22 year old college graduate witha degree in computer science and I currently work at Motorola in the Mobile Devices devision.

I can't say I love it there, but it's a job and pays the bills. I'm an avid gamer and lover FF.
