There are several ways to become a recognized member here at EoFF. None of them are codified, and rarely are members recognized for repeating something that another member was recognized for.
Recognition carries a special honor reserved for members, it’s a mark that they’ve done something of great importance for the community and they deserve to be known for it.
Oh, and then you have Former Staff. They used to be CKs but now they aren’t and we hate them on principle. I’ve never been quite sure why, but when does anything we do ever make sense?
However, twice a year, the Ciddies once again require us to name one of these people as the “best”. Maybe someday there will be some kind of criteria as for how one defines “best”. Until the, we shall improvise.
Agent Proto: One of the earlier CKs, Agent Proto stepped down for reasons unknown to me and more than likely most of you as well. So we won’t dwell on this.
What we do know of Proto, however, is that he is “Just that Ace”. What does this mean? Damned if I know. We should ask him some time, but that requires effort. He also runs the screen name competitions from time to time. And probably does some other stuff too.
Chemical: Chemical is a Recognized Member. Someday, somebody may tell me what he’s recognized for. Until then, I will assume he did something interesting/noteworthy and deserves our praise.
Chemical makes long posts. At least the ones I’ve seen. I’d read them but it’s 1:00 AM and I have a lot more people to go through, most of whom I have no idea who they are. So, to reiterate: Chemical is a Recognized Member. He probably did something cool.
Del Snizz: Del Snizz is a former staff and claims to be the original Del. His last post was in September, and stuff before that brief time frame date back to 2003. He also has posts going back to 2001. The conclusion here is that he’s been around for a long, long time. And probably did some cool stuff.
Endless: Endless is another Former Staffer. Searches of his posts lead back to 2001. So again, I was not around when he was on staff and thus I have no idea what he really did.
I do know that his avatar often has him mistaken for a woman. That’s something in his favor, right?
Giga Guess: Finally, someone I do know! Giga Guess is a Recognized Member, for his work on the World of EoFF along with Trumpet Thief, Carnage and t3h j3ff. He put a lot of work into making the world interesting for others. Sadly, the World of EoFF is no longer active, but thinking about it makes me want to bug BoB into resurrecting it again.
I may just have to go do that.
Rainecloud: Rainecloud is another Recognized Member. What he’s recognized for I have no idea. I think he’s also mistaken for a girl sometimes too. Gonna give Endless a real run for his money if he has that going on too, that’s for sure.
Raistlin: Raistlin is a Former Staff, implying that he was a CK back in the day. And what a day that must have been.
Our resident crotchety old guy, Raistlin somehow, invariably is the butt of just about every joke on this forum. He was there since it started, and he hasn’t gone away since, much as some people (see: Shlup) might want him to.
RSL: Everybody loves RSL! An Eeyore lover, as well as a secret lover of Rydia, RSL has been at EoFF for a long time. Almost as long as Raistlin, I think. He’s often equated with a big teddy bear, and he’s just generally loved by everyone. Anybody who doesn’t love RSL is evil/a communist/a nazi/a cyborg/whatever.
ShlupQuack: Why is she on here!? She’s not even Former Staff anymore! We just GAVE her her power back!
Anyway, Shlup’s cool, evil, pink saturating, blah blah blah I already wrote several paragraphs on her and I’m not going to do it again.
Shlup was admin. She stepped down. She became admin once again. She will smite us all.
theundeadhero: There are many heroes in this world, but there aren’t a lot of undead heroes. To that end, theundeadhero is truly unique.
He’s a Recognized Member, for what I can only imagine (my guess is “being awesome”). A paint master extraordinaire and also a military man, he also works with the site staff and is generally cool.
And undead.
Which really would make him pretty cool, I suppose. What with the whole no body heat and all.
Xander: Xander was a CK. And there was much love, cuteness and pandas. And then she stepped down. And there was a lot less cuteness.
And then we as the staff collectively grew sticks up our rear. Apparently.
Whether or not the latter of that story is true or not, Xander was in her time a kind and sensible CK, and we all loved her. Truly, the staff forum hasn’t been the same since.
