No, when I drink tea I have it kinda curled underneath, not gripping the cup but not sticking out.
My pinky is tucked away beneath my hand when i drink from a glass/can but used to grip the handle on any handled drinking containers. Though sometimes i like to hold handled containers with both hands without using the handle.
