Thread: FFVIII Did I cheat?

  1. #1

    Default FFVIII Did I cheat?

I'm kinda worried that I've not 'beaten this game properly'.

    Because.....

    I 'cheated' on ultimate weapon.

What did I do? I pressed pause between my moves, to give myself time to decide what move to make next.

Is that even cheating? It's technically within the rules of the game.

But I feel bad, and now feel that I've not 'beaten the game properly'. Or have I?

Definitely cheating. I think it's probably best starting again from scratch.

I guess it's how one defines cheating. I don't think it's cheating either as it follows the rules, but I do admit it was cheap of me.

I'd say it's on par with stuff like using walkthroughs. And killing the Gi Cave boss in FF7 with 1 x-potion.

PS - I assume Bubba is just messing? Hard to know online and when you don't know individual posters on here, I don't post here much.

No mate, deadly serious. The fact that people use tricks like that to gain an advantage really undermines all the hard work Squaresoft put into making this classic game.

    (SPOILER)Yeah, I was joking

trout, I always pause during Zell's Duel. That's how you get the most hits out of it.

Wait Mode is literally a feature in the game, so *shrug*

Yeah man. Your just being tactical. Nothing diffeent with pausing than waiting on the magic menu. Except you lose the cool music. Id say you cheated your ears more than anything

You can get some of the best weapons in the game before you ever leave Balamb just by manipulating the card modification trick. Maybe you weren't intended to get those weapons so fast, but it isn't cheating.

I'd say it's fair game. You're using a feature of the game to your advantage.

On one of my playthroughs to make that fight easier I only taught Rinoa Invincible Moon. I missed out on Wishing Star, but I let the others do the damage and she kept up 100% invulnerable uptime. Is that cheating?
