How do i beat Ruby Weapon
ok, i CANT beat this guy
i tried alllll of the stuff i found on here, btu when icant knights of the round, he eliminates me with ultima, and i did use the final attack-phoniex and i just cant beat him
anyone have any ideas
and the funny thing is, i beat emerald b4 this guyand hes supposed to be harder!!!!
What I usually do is I go into the fight with two of my 3 party members already dead, then once he puts up his tentacles behind them, I bring them back to life (Life 2 or Phoenix summon) and then he won't blow them out of the fight, as long as his tentacles are up from the ground behind them. Makes it easier to have 3 people, instead of just the one, otherwise.
FYI, I didn't find Emerald or Ruby "hard". I thought it took a while to kill them, but it wasn't difficult. Just very tedious.

I only used cloud and this strategy. It takes FOREVER but it makes the battle easy. Basically you need to master Knights of the Round, Final Attack, and HP/MP Absorb. You'll also want W-Summon and Mime. Link both HP and MP absorb to KOTR, make sure you have Final Attack > Phoenix. Kill off both of your party members and go in. He'll throw the tentacles into the ground right away and the basic strategy is just throw some KOTR at him. After every one you do, you'll be healed and your mp will be refreshed. This method takes a while, I was making sandwiches while doing the battle... it's pretty easy.

HP Absorb O=O KotR
Mime O=O Counter
Final Attack O=O Revive Materia
W-Summon
enter battle with 2 of your party dead and W-Summon KotR then Mime your way to victory
two dead characters,
ribbon,
2 dead members,
full limit bar with cloud,
mimic matieria and anything you got to boost his stats
hit the omnislash and then wait for ruby to hit you, then use mimic and he will do omnislash again, ruby has to hit you for it to work.
I used Cait Sith's slots to defeat Ruby Weapon.
I know some of you may call me a cheater because I killed him in one hit but....I DON'T CARE!
Ruby
Weapon: Ultimates
Armour: Mystile
Accessory: Ribbon
Recommended materia
Knights of the Round = HP Absorb
Hades
W-Summon
Mime
Phoenix = Final Attack
Start the battle with 2 characters KO'd. Wait for Ruby to bury her claws, then summon Hades or use Dazers to paralyse her, then revive your other characters. W-Summon KotR and Mime it. If Paralysis wears off, recast Hades/use more Dazers.

KOTR or Master= Quadra
KOTR or Master= HP absorb
Counter= Mime
W-Summon
Hades
W-summon Hades then KOTR. A stopped Ruby is a ruby that can't counter. And if it does come out of stop mid attack and counter, you'll live and counter mime, and be back at full.
Just cast it once and mime to victory.
That combination doesn't work.
I've always thought Ruby was female, too. Ultima Shadow, was it you that had the picture of Ruby in a bikini?

I'm just asking for outside confirmation, since I've never really thought of the weapons as gendered.
Also, if Quadra/ KOTR doesn't work, then Quadra/ Master Summon must, because I was using KOTR four times a summon in the Ruby Battle
Master Summon = Quadra Magic does work, with the exception of KotR. The game doesn't allow it because ((13 * 9999) * 4) is simply too much damage in one round. Not sure how you got it do cast four times per cast. KotR can be W-Summoned, but not Quadra Magic'd.
Well, I might have tricked the game by W-ing a Quadra'd master with Hades and KOTR, bypassing the usual check.
In any case, the major point of my setup was to cast Hades 4X (to make sure that one of the four casts hits Ruby and not the tentacles) THEN KOTR, ensuring Ruby never gets a chance to attack, and if it does, it's not happy, because it takes another 4XHades/ KOTR and I'm back at full. It's a process that can be executed completely passively after the first input.
This is THE strategy for beating Ruby Weapon:
Mime = Counter
Knights of Round = HP Absorb
W-Summon
ARMOUR:
Fire = Elemental
RESULTS:
Invincibility.
Hell, after choosing Knights of Round, you don't even need to do anything anymore.
And yes, you'll destroy the tentacles as well.
