I don't think it's something that should be "embraced". If a new fictional character happens to be homosexual, I don't really care. However, in this case, it would be turning a well-defined character upside down. That's why it is an idiotic idea.

I've heard this rumour in a few places, but it'd be odd if this actually happened in the next Bond film (although I think it's unlikely). I, however, wouldn't actually mind if Bond became a homosexual. I do find the idea silly (after all, I'm used to seeing Bond around all those women, and I can't really imagine him being interested in men), but if it was done properly (by screenwriters, actors etc), it could work.

No worries, outlaw. I'm sure there will be a homosexual spy movie sometime, but it will not be James Bond. It isn't so much about being afraid of change, but the fact that James Bond's sexual orientation isn't homosexuality , it's as simple as that. You don't just change from being straight to being gay in a heartbeat.

I don't think James Bond should become gay because they'd be butchering the source material. (I haven't read any of the Bond novels but I assuming that he's straight in those novels.)

It's kind of like when Tim Burton released Batman Returns a lot of people complained about that movie because it wasn't true to the source material. They said "It's more Burton than Batman."

Although it wouldn't be so bad if they just had makeout scenes between two gay henchmen because Diamonds Are Forever had gay henchmen.

But it's possible that James Bond could become gay in the next movie. A lot of people forget that Casino Royale was a REBOOT meaning the events in the previous Bond films have no merit...Also they've butchered the source material before.

So, um, gay scenes involving Bond, right? That doesn't necessarily mean Bond is the one performing homosexual acts.

I think its far more likely that Bond walks in on two women and just joins in.

It's not really about changing, it's that the whole idea is very absurd and illogical, not to mention unneccesary.

Goldeneye was a huge change in atmosphere, and I still loved it.
Changes are good, as long as they actually are wise.

I don't think it'd be that good an idea with the next movie, as the new Bond isn't that established. People would just say that it isn't really Bond, just another character with his name.

I don't think Bond should turn gay, it just changes too much of what he represents. If they wanted to lead some kind of acceptance for homosexuality in films then they could maybe have him seduce a man for the purpose of the mission, but without making it so that he actually enjoyed doing it. It might emphasise the detached aspect of the character, and would be quite a dramatic move.

I still think its probably a bad idea though as it goes against the "Every man should want to be him and every woman should want to sleep with him" mentality that Bond seems to stem from.
