CES 2007: Wii Charging Station
Power up two Wii controllers in style with Nyko's new peripheral. Pics included.

January 9, 2007 - Third party manufacturer Nyko at CES 2007 unveiled its Wii charge station. The device accepts two Wii controllers and simultaneously powers them. When the remotes are recharged, an LED charge indicator lights up. The charge station includes two NiMH rechargeable battery packs and a six-foot power cable. On top of everything else, the charge station comes packed with two rubberized battery covers that Nyko says can be used "for superior grip and gaming performance." We've got first photos below.

Well, I probably won't be getting it, since I already got a battery charger. But it's good to know that a stylish battery charger will be coming soon. Hardly seems like something CES worthy, though.

I think it's worth getting, since it also includes a new battery cover for the Wii Remote which has a rubber grip to it so it won't slip off your hands, which is a genius idea if you ask me.

I saw those on Joystiq or somewhere a couple months ago. Aside from a set of component cables, that's definitely the first thing I'll buy whenever I get a Wii. I've got rechargeable battery packs for all my 360 controllers, and going through a pair of AAs a month should be banished to the past.
