No, it just means that they're put off the ladder. The ladder is basically a ranking sheet for characters. Once the ladder resets, the rankings are reset as well and the characters are moved to non-ladder.

You have given me at most, 3 high runes. I have given you a Grief, Enigma, Fortitude, and starting items. The only Diablo II player with which I have a negative item balance is Maxx Power.
Characters and items on Ladder are all converted to Non-Ladder status. Nothing is lost except for the ABILITY to make/find Ladder-only runewords, such as Insight or Spirit. You only lose something if you delete yourself.
You never gave me an enigma or fort :c/ I have supplied myself with those.
I have given you at least two of the three. Ohh yeah, I definitely helped you as much as I thought. Sure, it's not as much as Nominus or Giga Guess, but definitely my count balance of high runes is positive.
You've given me the one, the grief and the starting things, but I think my wonderful 4 weeks of constant gems canceled out the 5 things you gave me when I started. And I have supplied you with more than 3 hrs, Sir. Ist, Vex, Ber, Sur, Jah (x2). :c) If you want, I can recall these occasions quite clearly.
We're just having a competitive conversation. :c)
Please do, because the only time you gave me high runes was to help me finish my Last Wish Berzerker. Gems don't really count, as my output was higher than yours anyways. I've never gotten an Ist, Sur, or Vex from you for any reason. And I swear to God if you try to use the CtA thing on me, consider yourself blocked because you needed the flail, AND I had to replace the runes I borrowed, which I did.
I definitely give you one of the other two, if not both.
Ist was indeed the CTA and I'm sure you were including it in that three, the Vex you asked if I had when I was rambling on about my guitars on AIM, I answered yes and when I got on I gave it to you, I supplied you with the two jah's for your last wish, and the Sur I believe for that as well, I supplied you with a Ber since the only other high rune you had wa s a gul, which you offered me to keep for my troubles but ended up keeping for yourself. My first Enigma was a gothic plate that I traded a phoenix I had somehow obtained, my first fort I managed to procure all the runes but dol through extensive trading, dol was provided as usual by Nom, the CTA you gave me was considered good for the gems that I had saved up to that point, as said by your own post, well that and my wife and 2 kids.
I had a Sur, a Jah, and the Mal for LW. I never took back the Gul. You had a second Enigma which I made for you, and your first was a Breastplate Enigma. I can clearly remember the conversation I had with killa about it, because we were making fun of you to your face.
LOL I don't give back for gems, unless it was your children and future wife. If I did say that (find the post), then I had also assumed that it would also count for all the gems in future; there was no time limit on it.
Crap, didn't I talk about the Fortitude thing? I'm so lazy.
Fortitude did raise the kick damage on the character screen. It showed all my kick damage and claw damage go up. But when I put on three tigers, it just got lost. That's what I meant when I said kickers are "fickle," I just forgot to explain the rest of it.
I don't really know why. The best I can figure is the enormous ED of Tiger Strike counts the +20 strength from Chains of Honor as a greater damage multiplier than 300% enhanced damage. Who knows with them. Dragon Flight shows the greatest +% kick damage by far, and without charges it does the most. Yet with three Tiger Strikes on, it doesn't even reach 10k whereas Dragon Tail somehow boosts over 30. The mechanics of kickers are very confusing. ;_;
I'm going to play Median until the Ladder resets. I want to make an Assassin since they're my faviefave, but I feel sort of lost in it. How is it set up? Pretty much choose early on what you want to do and stick to it, or what? Maybe I should make a bunch of high level characters with 999 skill points before converting to the Median patch so I can see everything >;[
