After hearing the news that Hleb and Fabregas will miss the trip to Middlesbrough, I've given in and removed Hleb and Cech in exchange for Cahill and Almunia, at least for the short term. I might change back later on, depending on how injuries work out. I was looking forward to having Cech in goal for a long period but it seems that such an idea wasn't to be.

Tevez getting a bit frustrating with something like five or six chances on Monday with not one of them going in, but I'm sure he'll get his goals eventually. Either that or I bring in VDS at his expense and go for a more expensive player up front.

Planned out some changes with at least one of them being forced (Bentley) that totalled up 12 points being deducted but I'm unsure whether to take the gamble or not. Eh, got time to think on it.

Taken a risk and changed my team when there's still a week to go...

    Fabregas in for Gerrard
    Cech in for Almunia
    Gabbidon in for Garrido

Brought Hleb in for Elano this week, too - Elano was coming back but I do feel that Hleb is a bargain at 7.1 and if he hadn't been injured he'd have about 80 points anyway. Fabregas for Gerrard is a no-brainer, cheaper and just as much potential for points so there's no reason not to. Cech for Almunia obvious enough too, and Gabbidon in for Garrido as City's defensive mean streak is gone now and West Ham's is ongoing. Still considering putting in Bouma but I do like having options for teams.

Elano back in, Diouf in for Benjani (wanted Anelka but couldn't afford him so this will have to do) and Shorey in for Distin. Hopefully claw back some points after a quite frankly shocking week.

Ridiculously bad week for all of us really. At least I've managed to pull away from The Captain a bit so I get a bit breathing space. The fact that Fabregas is back is excellent news for next week because it means I can get rid of Lampard who was very disappointing and even get back some money to spend! If I were to swap Reina for Green then I'd have an extra 2.6 million to mess around with too. I think, perhaps, I'll just swap Lampard out for now though.

Bad week for my squad. Though hopefully I can finally find a good group of strikers.

    Take care all.

I still reckon Cech will be better for the long run, although that will probably depend on the results of Terry's scan. But right now Chelsea have had more clean sheets than any other team.

Haven't posted in a while, but managing to clamber back into 5th spot. Made a fair few changes - notably dropping Fabregas and Elano and bringing on Cahill and Gerrard. Am liking my current goalkeeper pairing of Green and James. Both West Ham and Pompey teams are doing reasonable well and it's an unlucky week where both of them are up against particularly stiff opposition. Current line-up:

    GK: Green (West Ham)
    Def: Arbeloa (Liverpool)
    Def: Toure (Arsenal)
    Def: Neill (West Ham)
    Def: Ferdinand (Man Utd)
    MF: Hunt (Reading)
    MF: Mascherano (Liverpool)
    MF: N'Zogbia (Newcastle)
    MF: Gerrard (Liverpool) - capt
    Str: Tevez (Man Utd)
    Str: Adebayor (Arsenal)

    Bench:

    GK: James (Portsmouth)
    Def: Evra (Man Utd)
    MF: Cahill (Everton)
    Str: Benjani (Portsmouth)

I think the bench may raise a few eyebrows (they're all class players), but I reckon Neill is more likely to keep a clean sheet against Boro than Evra is against Everton. Likewise, N'Zogbia and Hunt have easier games this round (Derby and Sunderland, respectively) the Timmy Cahill does (Man Utd).

1526: Aston Villa are on top against Manchester City now. Martin Laursen heads over then Gabriel Agbonlahor is claiming a goal after his scuffed shot is cleared off the line by Elano. It's impossible to tell if it crossed the line or not.

Dammit. That would have been ideal.

Another bad week for me moves me further down the list, should have known better than to trust failcastle with Derby.

Within striking distance, not bad for an American at all.

Seriously. xD 98 points, 42 of them from him. The other United players in my team (Rio, Tevez) got three goals between them, too. I'm happy.

Man. Still stuck fighting for second place like I have been for ages. And I'm 87 point off first. I need to get Ronaldo or something because Cesc just hasn't been good since he's returned.

Edit: Oh yeah, how did everyone do in the Fantasy Cup thing? Anyone still in it? I rather embarrassingly got knocked out in the first round (Boxing Day).

I lost out in the second round. I didn't even know it was going on until a guy at work pointed it out to me.

4th at the moment, but only four points shy of third (although Cap'n will be moving forward more than I after tonight's game). A terrible week for me, though, still really gutted that Pompy let in a goal at home to Derby. Bastards let me down, they did. Still top for January, though.
