Anyway I'm NOT a day cop I'm a normal one and I investigated godot and he is a townie.

Hotti was an insane cop, so godot must be scum. Just remember that we should use this day, not just vote Godot and end quickly.

I have no idea why Hotti would say I was innocent, and still be an Insane Cop. My guess is he discovered he was insane, and when I came up as 'guilty', he knew that was the wrong verdict.

A Cop can theoretically find out their own sanity by investigating themselves.

For example: Let's say we have an Insane Cop, who doesn't know he's insane. He could investigate himself overnight, and come up with a verdict. If that verdict comes up guilty, and he knows he's Town, he'll know he's either Paranoid or Insane.

Also, a Cop can gauge his investigations against the lynches/deaths. If he investigated someone, came back with a guilty verdict, and then they die and turn out to be innocent, then he'll know he's not a regular Cop.

Unless he was given special Night 0 investigation priveleges, I really don't know. But if i'm right about him discovering his sanity, then during Night 1, he knew he was Insane and investigated me. It came up guilty, and he claimed I was Town. Which I am.

But I honestly don't know how he'd be able to discover his sanity by the end of Day 1.

I feel like I oughta claim my role now, but i'm going to hold out a little while...

That theory makes the game unbalanced. The point of the insane cop is to hurt the town until sanity is found. Your theory takes that element away. So I don't think that happened.
