So I'm just wondering how many of you have been keeping up with BBS events. I've seen the endings for all three characters. Thoughts?

I think that the KH series would have been fine without all of the explanations in these side games, but it's still interesting to know what's going on nonetheless.

I really like the series, but let's be honest: Birth by Sleep isn't really necessary. Neither is 358/2 Days or Coded.

Imagine the very last scenes in KH2 -the one in which Sora, Riku and Kairi get the letter from the King and the one Terra, Aqua and Ven can be seen in the Keyblade Graveyard- hadn't been in the game, I think the story would have been complete then.. But well, Nomura and Square Enix love money, I guess.

However I too have watched all the endings there are to BBS and well, okay, it is interesting, and the secret ending even now gives me the creeps, but still.. The series would have done too without BBS, Coded and Days. Period.

Edit: Oh yeah, KH2 Final Mix+ too wasn't necessary for the plot. It just gave birth to Birth by Sleep..

I think you're severely underestimating how much Birth By Sleep will explain. As for Days, I'm willing to agree with that. Days answered a few questions that most people didn't really worry too much about. I don't see how the origins of the keyblade or Xehanort's backstory are in anyway irrelevant to the overall plot of Kingdom Hearts. In fact, given that it's becoming entirely likely that Xehanort will return (likely revived after having both his heartless and nobody destroyed) in some form for Kingdom Hearts 3, making Birth By Sleep even more necessary.

Well, in that case why don't we just stop making movies and story driven games? That way we won't have to worry about being bothered to actually see them. (i.e. Your post doesn't make sense)

"... and so I close, realizing that perhaps the ending has not yet been written."

I have Birth by Sleep and I love it. Because it explains the most important thing which was necessary to be explained: Xehanort's story. Why do we see a youn Xehanort in a Kingdom Hearts II flashback while the Birth by Sleep Xehanort is an old keyblade master? Everyone who knows Unlimited SaGa and has finished Judy's story (with beating the antagonist of her story part - Clyde Blackstorm) can think what happens - but doesn't know how it happens. Plus, the secret ending explains very much and proclaims the sequel of Kingdom Hearts II - and I hope it is the final part because it is enough of the main story. Xehanort shall return fight Sora, Riku and Kairi, Happy End, finished. That's what I want.

To Birth by Sleep itself - I really love it. As much as every other part of the story.

From what I heard it's not really a prequel but more of both a prequel to the first game and a sequel to Kingdom Hearts 2. Only matters either way you look at it though. And it also plays a real big part in the Kingdom Hearts Franchise explaining a lot of big issues that are needed to be solved.

I was writing a story that's a sequel with so many flashbacks it might as well be a prequel.
    Jack: How do you know?

Will: It's more of a feeling really.

Jack: Well, that's not scientific. Feeling isn't knowing. Feeling is believing. If you believe it, you can't know because there's no knowing what you believe. Then again, no one should believe what they know either. Once you know anything that anything becomes unbelievable if only by virtue of the fact you now... know it. You know?

    Will: No.

If Demolition Man were remade today

Huxley: What's wrong? You broke contact.
Spartan: Contact? I didn't even touch you.
Huxley: Don't you want to make love?
Spartan: Is that what you call this? Why don't we just do it the old-fashioned way?
    Huxley: NO!
    Spartan: Whoa! Okay, calm down.
Huxley: Don't tell me to calm down!
Spartan: What's gotten into you? 'Cause it sure as hell wasn't me.
Huxley: Physical relations in the way of intercourse are no longer acceptable John Spartan.
Spartan: What? Why the hell not?
Huxley: It's the law, John. And for your information, the very idea that you suggested it makes me feel personally violated.
Spartan: Wait a minute... violated? Huxley what the hell are you accusing me of here?
Huxley: You need to leave, John.
    Spartan: But Huxley.
    Huxley: Get out!
Moments later Spartan is arrested for "violating" Huxley.

By the way, that's called satire. Get over it.
