I don't think the German side are unbeatable and I think there is a chance we will beat them. Sadly I don't think there is a prayer against Argentina.

I'm American, so bullying is justified. Right? That's what I was taught in school.
Boy am I an unfunny ass.

This German side isn't as good as ones in previous World Cups. And Ozil is dangerous with his movement off the ball, but Gareth Barry is there to pick him up. I worry about Podolski & Klose against Terry + 1. Terry is a great defender, but Ferdinand is the perfect foil for him because, although lacking the bravery of Terry, he can see the play around him and position himself to prevent attacks. Upson/Carragher/King just can't.

I hope that Gerrard tucks in in the game, to provide some strength in the midfield, maybe allowing Rooney to play slightly wider on the left.

But I think England can beat this German team. On paper at least. Against Argentina. Good luck. You'll need it. Especially when Messi has an one-on-one against Johnson.

I don't know what your beef with Glenny J is, cs (although if you hated him for the name "Glenny J" I'd fully understand) but he's been one of the few England players who has played well so far.

Good news everybody! England also have the Daleks' support in the World Cup!

That Dalek's "YOU DO NOT RE-QUIRE TEAAAAAA?" is still one of the best lines of 2010.

Would you want Messi having an one-on-one situation with Glen Johnson? Watching him play for Liverpool against talented wingers has always been an ... interesting experience.

To be fair, you also said Landon Donovan would have him and yet Johnson kept him pretty well shackled in that game. Thank god, too, the Yanks would've probably won if they'd got Donovan into the game.

Besides, Messi plays down the middle for Argentina.

    Messi > Donovan.

And who knows what Maradona's formation will look like. But I'm sure they'll start targeting that flank as the tournament goes on. Although Milner should provide plenty of cover if he retains his place.
