This.. this is perhaps one of the most interesting and beautifully written articles about summons, in particular Leviathan. Kudos to the writer That sea serpent is usually one of the stronger summons in FF, though FFIV does mix things up hahaha..

But the best Leviathan for me, strangely, is in FFXII!!
