    Default Red Velvet

Red velvet is in the top-tier of favorite cakes for me. I love red velvet. I love red velvet. It melts in your mouth and it's always so moist. Cake, cookies, donuts, fudge. Doesn't matter what it is, it's just heavenly. And that frosting! Lord help me!

I know a couple of people who can't stand it, and I don't understand.

Do you like red velvet? If you don't, get out, because you are not welcome.

There are way more bad red velvet cakes than good ones.

Red velvet is my fav. I've tried red velvet all over the freakin' place. From upscale bakeries like Thomas Keller's bouchon, to "award winning" red velvet cupcakes, red velvet donuts, red velvet from Costcos, etc. But they continually disappoint. The best red velvet cake I've ever had is from Ralphs grocery store chain in Southern California. $14.99 for a big ol' cake.

I just had red velvet cake from a popular bakery in LA. It was $60 for a cake. And you know what? The cheap ass one from Ralphs still blew it out of the water.

Homemade really is the best way to go. And do not skimp on the frosting.

I would go and bake it, but's its better to bake with friends and actual equipment. I do have an electric whisk, which for some reason only has one speed: fast. I hardly ever use it because of it.

My manual whisk has its head come off sometimes It's awfully expensive having to replace these items. I do go baking, sometimes, but because of aforementioned problems not so much, and even then I only bake 'simple' items that don't involve much whisking.

ELECTRIC WHISK? Use a fork! The only things you should need to bake this cake are some bowls, measuring cups and utensils, a pan to bake it in and a fork.
